It's amazing how hideous it looks before it gets shaped down into place, and it's a work of art afterwards. Well done! I wish I had a cue with classic veneered points like that, but they cost so much! My modern-looking Viking will have to do for now.

Thanks Bob. I always wondered how those veneers were done. Beautiful work and a true Craftsman. Kat

Not gonna lie Bob. Watching your videos really makes me want one of your cues. Great marketing strategy! haha

Hi, great videos! I was wondering if you could create a video of machining the stick for the points, and actually creating the veneers, unless those are bought! I would love to see it.

I have been a machinist and a pool player separately for a while now and I am just contemplating getting into cue making. The wax paper and medical tubing trick is one I will defiantly keep in my back pocket.

stupid question but does the pointers and veneer makes a cue play better? some ppl say they act as dampers and it will make the cue feel and play differently than cues like merry widow or simple cue with no veneer and all solid maple.

DID YOU SAY THERE WAS BLACK PAPER IN BETWEEN THE VENEERS AT 1.46 MINUTE MARK ? HOW DO YOU TAKE THE PAPER OUT ONCE ALL GLUED IN?

quite a bit of tearout on the maple after roughing in. Is it just sanded after that and before finishing? Any body know?
@fendermender658 жыл бұрын
+Pete Derko Sanding would be a logical step, it is a good measuring device to see how true your machine tooling performs, everything ends up being hand finished anyway.

All the fancy doodads on cues do not improve one's game at all. I use a cue with a plain black butt and traditional maple shaft, which cost $135. I always smile when I beat some guy with a $1,000 low-deflection cue.

you still doing cues Bob ? I'm new to CNC machining just bought a desktop CNC machine, but am far from doing 4th axis machining. I was wondering if my 4 axis cnc machine could make a butt and shaft ? I checked your website and seen no cues for sale. Is it very problematic trying to sell pool cues ? I thought of using my big 3D printer and using wood filament to 3D print my own custom pool cue butt;

can any one tell me, where to cut the joint on a pool cue-?what are the proportions between the shaft and the butt?
@ericsternberg9387 жыл бұрын
Francisco Câmara Cues are generally a 29" split between the butt and shaft. For the butt it is generally a 12" forearm, 12 1/2" wrap area, 3" butt sleeve and 1 1/2" butt cap.

Really? I had him make me some joint protectors about 10 years ago and he did an outstanding job at a great price. I wanted to buy a cue from him recently, but it appears he's not taking orders at the moment. Would you care to elaborate on what happened?
