Just a note when toasting toast: Set the temperature dial to toast/broil, set the function dial to toast; and set the toast timer dial to light, medium or dark, depending on your preference. This makes perfect toast, so now I've given my old toaster away. 😊

cool vid. I have a question about this unit vs the Ninja Foodi air fryer grill. This unit can do larger qty. and cakes, pies & pizza, bread etc. but the Ninja can grill steaks, burgers, chicken and potatoes just as well. Which do you think would be better for a single man?

Why is there a "toast" function on the oven/air fryer dial? And the dial does not go all the way to Toast or Broil just to 450°. New to this appliance and not sure how to use it (obviously).

In the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster oven booklet it doesn’t mention to lower recipes to 25 degrees if the regular recipes calls for 350 F degree

what temp do i use for a frozen pizza, and what function do i use, and level 1 or 2, just on the rack without the pan beneath? i did one but top was done but bottom was soft.

Hey dan del ponte, I would use the bottom-most rack for pizza and cook at 350-400 degrees (but check the box for the pizza's makers recommendation!) You'll be closer to the bottom heating elements which will make for a crispier crust.

What do you use on the convection part of the oven...can I put microwave dinners in the oven ?

Jessie, the convection function of the oven would be used like the "bake" function of the oven, but it would cook faster thanks to the convection fan. You would not want to put microwave dinners in this oven as the plastic container would melt (or paper would burn).

The cable wraps are actually there for safety spacing between the oven and the wall. Essentially fool proof.

I have made buffalo cauliflower and French fry’s. I’m going to try making chimichangas for a friend of mine and crab Rangoon egg rolls. Like I said FUN!

Thank you for such a great video. I was wondering if I can use a Pyrex type (oven safe) glass to bake a lasagna. The manual said no aluminum foil but did not say anything about oven safe glass. Also wanted to ask what is the best way to bake a pot roast in this oven. I am concern about leaving the meat open and have a splatter all over the place. Appreciate your response.

Hey Sarah! You can use oven safe glass baking dishes in the Cuisinart, that would work fine! As far as a pot roast 🤔 I think you'd be safe to use something like a small metal Dutch oven or deep roasting pan with a lid or tightly sealed with foil to where it is not touching any heating elements. The manual does say foil is okay in some applications: "If you choose to use foil to cover the Baking Pan/Drip Tray, be sure foil is cut to neatly fit into the pan and does not touch the wall or heating elements." - Full manual here: www.cuisinart.com/manuals/airfryers I hope this helps!

I have a Cuisinart CTOA-130PC2 Digital Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Same Brand, but Different Model than the 1 Featured in this Video. I would like to see a Video on this Model Air Fryer. Those 2 black tabs in the back are to keep it away from the wall, and for the vent in the back not for wrapping the plug cable

My daughter and a friend each have a Cuisinart TOA-60. When they turn it on there is a noise like the blades of a fan hitting the sides that will go away after about a minute. Is that normal? I am thinking of getting one but am concerned about the noise.

can you only air fry one basket at a time?

According to the directions, you can only air fry one basket at a time, and only on rack position 2 (the topmost position). Trying to do two baskets at once would not work because the top basket would block the airflow to the bottom basket. The Cuisinart Air Fryer also only comes with one basket to air fry in. This is still a great air fryer and toaster oven, it air frys very fast! As of today (5-4-18) this model is on sale for $184.99, check it out at our shop: evkitch.com/2GZfTkG

Your review was good and thorough. By any chance have you looked at the Digital Airfryer Toaster oven by Cuisinart? I would like to know what the difference really are.

Jeremiah Dupree, thanks for your kind words. I have not had the chance to use the Digital Airfryer from Cuisinart (TOA-65). It looks like they both have a 0.6 cubic foot cooking space and same 1800w power. According to the TOA-65's manual, you CAN airfry on both racks 1 & 2 allowing you to airfry larger foods. It looks like there is an added proofing function for bread doughs and a dehydrate function - so there is more low-temperature functionality as well. If these are features that interest you, the TOA-65 would be a good choice. If you might not use these features, you can save money by going with the original model. How would you recommend doing a Baked Potato?

Hey Randall, I'd make it similar to how you'd normally make a baked potato. Set to the bake function at 350 degrees. Take a washed potato and poke with a fork a few times then rub down with oil, kosher salt, and pepper. Wrap with foil then set on the oven tray on the bottom rack and bake for 45-60 minutes. It's done when you can poke a knife clean through it! -Chef Austin 👨‍🍳

I've been struggling to find mechanical difference between a convection oven and an airfryer oven. Are they both the same thing driven with the circulation of air? As one other member put it succinctly, it's a basically a price premium for the elevated rack.

The difference is the Airfryer fan is much larger and rotates at a higher rate

Great video. Clear and informative. Excellent camera work that closely coordinated with commentary. I do have one issue with this and so many other videos. I never could understand why background music is played while the speaker is talking. It is very distracting for me and totally unnecessary. In real life, there is no music playing when a person is, for example, ask directions to the car parts place. So what is added with music during videos. Otherwise, superior video.

Great question mrgiovanny! I just got the Cuisinart out and turned it on to check. The air-fry function is actually quieter than a standard microwave, so pretty quiet! When the fan is not running for the other functions, it is near silent. Hope this helps! -Chef Austin

Chef Austin, I can't thank you enough for answering my question. I seen this model over at an electronic store, and it caught my eye. It is a beautiful model compared to all others that are egg looking. I did my reviews research, and it basically has a 4.8 - 4.9 rating! ******* Star. However, no one was asking, nor were they reviewing the air fan. Most air fryers, air fans are reviewed as being loud. With your review, I have solidified my mind on buying this exact model! Norm Rohrer, you could possibly replace a microwave with this unit. I would say to consider a few things - a microwave will heat up food much faster than the Cuisinart. The Cuisinart will also give your food a crispness because of the heating elements which is good for some foods, but other foods it may not be desirable when reheating. The Cuisinart acts more like a small oven vs a microwave. Keep these thoughts in mind and let me know if you have any more questions! -Chef Austin

If I need to cook for a bigger amount of people but it has to be air fryed, is there another product that could handle a bigger amount of fries? How many times can I use it in a row when air frying french fries before having to clean it? Thanks for the video, it's been pretty informative!

Juan Pablo Mendoza Lizcano, you can use this product many times in a row before cleaning if you were making batches of french fries. If you are wanting to cook a lot of fries at once, the Breville Smart Oven Air can air-fry almost 2 and a half pounds of french fries at once AND you can buy up to 3 additional air-frying racks to use at once making a grand total of almost air-frying 10lb of fries at a time. What is the difference between the functions Airfry and Convection Broil and Convection Bake? In all 3 functions the fan would be running. Convection Broil would have the top elements only on, Convection Bake the bottom elements only....does Airfry have top & bottom elements on?

Gary Saarimaki, you're on the right track. I contacted Cuisinart customer service and they said in the airfry function only the top element would be on along with the convection fan. The broil function would also only have the top element on, but you would turn the temperature dial all the way up to "broil". I hope this helps!

So then the functions convection broil and Airfry are exactly the same thing and Airfry could be achieved without having this extra function on the knob and just use convection broil but adjust the temperature accordingly .... Sounds like Airfry is more of a customer sales tactic 😀

Gary, to give you some preliminary information, there are 4 heating elements running across the top and two on the bottom of the oven. Our companies Cuisinart rep got back to me and said that for convection broil the outer two upper heaters are in use. For Airfry all 4 upper heaters are in use. So there is a difference in the two functions, I hope this answers your original question 😉

The book that comes with the unit says “do not operate under a wall cabinet.” All of my counters have cabinets above. Where do you operate your toaster oven in your kitchen?

Athena, we use ours on our open island counter here in the test kitchen. You could place the oven on the floor or on a kitchen table to avoid the wall cabinets. I must have missed that line in the instruction book 🤔

DO NOT BUY. Our rotary switch broke after 1 year and now we are finding online reviews are full of similar problems with other owners. We have yet to hear back from the Cuisinart warranty department.

When you're explaining the features of the product, your voice tends to trail off towards the end of the sentence and you end up mumbling, so I can't catch what you're saying. Also, it would be nice to zoom in on the knobs while you're talking about the various features and functions, and linger there for more than a mere second, so we can actually see what's written by the knobs, since the focus should be on the product, not you.
