I have been trying to find one of these comedies with the dog barking at the beginning for years ! The first time I saw The Pharmacist was in a theater 40 years ago , and they played the whole film , dog barking in the dog house & all . Good old Sennett !

W.C. Fields, Laurel And Hardy, Charlie Chaplin-these guys did their best work in short films. Their comic stories only had 15-20 minutes in them

The Republican party has consistently been against anything that helps anybody except the rich. They used to say once you started making $100 a week you changed your party affiliation from Democratic to Republican. Like the song Whoopie, he doesn't make much money only 5000 per; 5000 was a pretty good salary in 1930.

I think what you’re reacting to is Fields’ technique of greatly exaggerating everyday situational conflicts we all face. Sometimes he says things we feel in the immediate emotional moment from our reptilian brain, but we know better than to let those feelings control our actions. There’s a definite Larry David vibe to his cranky character.

That was part of his character, he hated kids and they disturbed him endlessly. "Come on pop don't ya love me?" Lifts his fist "Why sure I love ya!" hahaha
