What Palaces did the Stuart Kings live in? What role did their opulence have in sparking the English Civil War?

King James I was a gust of fresh air after the later years of Queen Elizabeth. Unlike his predecessor he was a family man, with dynastic ambitions and big ideas about architecture. But neither he nor his son, Charles I, became the great patrons of building that they would have liked.
The lecture explores how their unrealised ambitions contributed to the downfall of the monarchy.
The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College Website: www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and...

Excellent. There are a few remains of Theobalds (Tibbals) Palace left in the grounds of Cedars Park Nr Waltham Cross Herts. It is a shame that no one appears to have done a complete comprehensive research project into this important palace in which King James died in 1625.

The installment before this one, on the Elizabethan era is missing (Simon refers to it in the last lecture as the next period to be addressed). Was there a problem in the initial recording, or is it hidden somewhere and mistakenly not uploaded?

Here's a link to one of our KZfaq playlists called 'The Royal Palaces of England' - this includes all the lectures in this series. I hope this helps! kzfaq.info/sun/PLU3TaPgchJtQUzK6AUaifIbFEljctcMZW

Thank you, but the missing video is missing entirely. There should be eight videos in the series, not seven. After the one on two Henrys there should be one on Elizabeth. Simon refers to it being next. It is missing from your site and you tube.
