Excellent presentation on how the ISX C brake works.

Isx Jake's are bloody good. They pull up just as good as the new x15 and dd15 engines

I always wondered why the ISX jake brake was so good compared to the paccar mx and detroits I've driven.

I only noticed the strange action of the turbo, sounded like an exhaust brake. I asked the dealer why they put an exhaust brake on an ISX, they said shortly, it’s part of the jakes. The more ya know.

Does this stuff just pop into peoples heads while they sleep? The timing and thought that must go into this stuff makes my head hurt. I think I'm gonna take a nap now maybe I will get a cool idea!

This procedure should be performed on these engines at 500000 miles. Or if it is a stationary engine around 12000 hours of operation. Thats my opinion. Not Cummins fact. I work as a Lead Mechanic for a company that carries around 95% of our trucks which contain these engines and besides the DPF problems, one driver is having problems with his JB. These are easy brakes to maintain comparatively. I love their simplicity. Take care of your engine. They get expensive when you neglect them.

+Garage Day since this should be done as part of running an overhead my understanding is that overhead is suggested at 250 to 300 thousand miles

me gustaria saber sobre cuanta precion lleva el aceite para activar el freno de motor . el detalle es que tengo un camion inter con motor isx 400 cummins. resulta que el freno de motor esta bien vajo, provocaa sonido de frenar pero no aguanta al camion.

Question A guy I work with insists that using the engine brake tremendously increases engine coolant temperature and pressures. I can’t see how that is possible. Anyone out there have the same point of view? Or any idea if that’s possible?

In return of using the Jake brake when you don't need to, is exhaust manifold gaskets start to leak , liners start to sink leading to blowing head gasket, and so on so only use Jake brake when go down a mountain and you will get a better longevity of the motor. WHAT I AM BASICALLY SAYING IS YOU ARE ADDING PREMATURE WEAR ON INTERNAL PARTS OF THE MOTOR , ETC.
