It's so nice that so many diesel pushers have the cummins onan generator so you don't have to worry about quality in that area.

Hi Randy. It's true that the vast majority of diesel pushers sold today come with an Onan generator big enough to run the whole RV. Their reputation is top-notch. And like you say, that's really nice!

Oil changes and air filter change is pretty straightforward and easy to do it yourself on Onan generators. The rest, tune ups etc, that’s for the professionals. Great video, thank you!

We maintain and have our 11-year-old Onan 3200 Diesel generator serviced as per the manual, but we still have needed to replace the motherboard ($1,100+) and control module ($500+) in the six years that we have owned it. So, it seems that costs are commensurate with owning an RV in our experience. Over those six years we've used it, not counting maintenance running, about 500 net hours. However, because of the seamless integration into the RV fuel system, we wouldn't use another type of system.

Thanks Dwayne. Very informative video as all of your videos are. Would really be interested in seeing a video from you on your opinion of the pros & cons of using eterna bond tape on RV fiberglass class A MH’s to put over décor sealant for added roof leak protection. Thanks

Thanks for the video suggestion Jesse. As far as I know, Eternabond works well with almost any kind of RV roof surface. I have used it on some of the roof body joints on my Class A and it has worked beautifully for that. And I am toying with the idea of covering all of my roof seams with it too. If I do, I'll make a video that you'll probably find helpful. Thanks for giving me more video ideas!

I'd like to know the hours on your 7500 and have you gotten the belt changed? I am due but I'm told the belt lasts much longer than the recommended change interval.

My diesel genny only has a little over 300 hours on it as we don't use it very much. And so far I haven't had to do anything but change the oil and filter annually.

Hi, I’m looking at a 2018 Jayco pinnacle fbts in very nice shape. Is this a trailer that will hold up for a decent amount of time living in it full time? What is your favorite 5th wheel? Yes I have a $50k budget

Hi Dennis. The Jayco Pinnacle is on my recommended list of fifth wheels. Just be sure to have it inspected prior to purchase to make sure it doesn't have major hidden issues. And truthfully, I don't have a favorite fifth wheel. Whatever rig fits your needs for travel and camping best and is made by a quality builder, is the best fifth wheel for you. I hope that helps.

I will be receiving a 1997 Monaco Dynasty with, according to the owners manual, a 7500 LP onan. I know to check oil level before startup. What else should I check before startup. Never owned a class A. Any advised would be helpful. Thanks.

If it's a diesel generator, you also want to check the coolant level as well. Usually both of those things are right up front and can be checked easily.

Hello all. 2017 Cummins Onan 6kw with 90 hours, inverter head failed. Cost approx $4,000 to drop generator , repair and reinstall Now 600 hrs with no issue. A fluke I guess. When researching Super C motorhomes, we found so many DEF issues with Cummins we when with. Ford 6.7.

Hi Michael. No product is always perfect. And that applies to Cummins Onan generators as well. But generally speaking, they're pretty reliable.

@@RehdClouhd Sorry to hear that. Most diesel generators are made for larger RVs with higher wattage requirements.

It might be worth mentioning that California will ban the use of small off-road engines in 2024 and it includes generators. Although you can get electric leaf blowers and lawn mowers, there's no all-electric replacement for a generator. Solar/lithium will not get you 6500 watts.

California sucks. I know, I live there. The only thing that is exceptional about California, is it has beautiful and diverse landscapes. Coastlines, deserts, mountains, valleys, lakes & rivers. California really has it all when it comes to natural beauty. But yeah... the rest of it pretty much sucks.
