Confusion and uncertainties won't stop you from loving someone, it's like a passionate toxic kind of love. My “estranghero” was someone I knew when I was in senior high school. He was one of the few friends I made, best even, which was a bit unexpected since iba ang circle of friends namin and we only knew each other for a few months (I was a transferee, and Grade 11 was on pandemic, sooo…). Naging close lang kami because of a common friend, and clicked immediately. Nagkagusto siya sa akin no’n but never kong nanotice dahil ang gusto ko that time was one of his friends. I just started observing him nu’ng sinasabi na ng mga classmates kong napapansin nilang may gusto nga raw siya sa’kin. I never wanted to be assuming kaya hindi ko talaga pinapansin until one time, something happened which made me so infuriated kaya I decided to confront him. I was expecting him to deny it but I was schocked nu’ng nagconfess nga siya. Aware siyang may gusto ako sa iba and I didn’t want things to be awkward kaya my treatment stayed the same as if a confession never happened though I was starting to notice his efforts. Until graduation came, we applied on the same university, got accepted, however, I enrolled on a different state univ outside the province. First few weeks after graduation, nag-uusap pa kami. Till one week before class starts, biglang hindi na lang niya ako kinausap. I understood naman since wala naman talaga kaming chance so better ending it earlier, di ba. Pero that time, I realized na I liked him not just as a friend. I was so sad that week, kaya when I got the chance na makauwi sa province the next week, nakipagkita ako sa kanya. Hybrid ang mode of classes namin no’n so every other week ay nakakauwi ako at everytime, I make excuses para makita siya. Pero naisip ko, “saan ba papunta ‘to?” Hindi naman kami pwede dahil nag-aaral pa ako at wala sa plano ko ang magcommit agad. Long story short, I slowly stopped talking with him and seeing him. Some of his schoolmates who were our former classmates were still giving me updates about him because I asked but now, I completely stopped. It hurt, of course. He was my first potential jowa, and one of my few bestfriends, anyway. Now, hindi na kami nag-uusap. Even the random reels, tiktok videos, wala na. The last update I got about him was from one of our common friends. May crush na raw siyang classmate niya, which was later on confirmed by another common friend. Sakit non, pare. Kasi here I am, writing poems and still thinking about him everytime I listened to this song, tapos siya, may gusto nang iba. Pero wala nga naman akong magagawa, kasi ginusto ko ‘to. Siya, open siya for a relationship, ako lang ang hindi. Nanghihinayang ako sa friendship natin, my estranghero. Pero ewan, maybe love really is a gamble and our friendship was at stake. I am still hoping we could reconcile in the future tho. Hindi na ako aasang muli kitang makikilala, pero asahan mong ikaw ‘yong estrangherong hindi ako magdadalawang-isip na kilalaning muli. Edit: My feelings for my ex-crush (other ex-crush, hindi 'yong friend niya since crush ko pa rin naman 'yon) came back. And update, sila na raw ni estranghero ng crush niya. Genuinely happy for him na. Kahit mukha siyang bilat char.
