Many thanks! I'm less than two weeks into 3d printing, the K1 being my first printer. I've already rooted my machine and experiencing the extra features of Fluidd and Moonraker. As a rookie Creality Print is my baseline and it gives great prints out of the box! Orca has profiles but gives serious stringing no matter what (seems like I'm not alone), Prusa has given me ok-ish results with 3rd party profiles but still a lot of stringing and quality issues that I cannot mitigate with my limited knowledge. But best so far, outside of Creality Print, has been Cura with these profiles! Thank you, this is really helping me going into deeper waters with 3d printing =)

I'm interested in what goes on with the prow of the Benchy. Even your much improved Cura profile was still slightly inferior on that area, which appears to be caused by inadequate cooling and/or excess flow. I've seen this on my Ender 3 as well. Using Klipper, input shaping, and Orca slicer, my Ender 3 can print a really fast Benchy that mostly looks really good, but I get that same droopy prow section. I really like the Orca slicer, but I feel like it's failing on that area of the Benchy compared to Cura even when printing slower overall.

Good video Chuck! I've got the K1 Max and it is pretty amazing. I have had decent luck w the creality print, although it needs much more attention! I've spent a good amount of time w the Orca slicer(which I think has more and better features) BUT it always comes up estimating slower print time. I have not printed with Orca yet but will get to it. I'm printing rc airplanes and setting up the slicers take LOADS of time! Thanks for sharing w us your input and time are always appreciated and welcome!

Your profile works great on my K1 with a little tweaking of my own (for ABS) but Cura passed the nozzle temp in the gcode just fine, but would not pass the bed temp. I don't know how did you get 60min with Orca, In my case in Orca 1.9v with default profiles (Generic PLA + 0.2 layer height) Benchy takes ~44min and if you choose HF Speed PLA profile it takes 36 min. So it's the same as tuned Cura. I think the main point of slow down is because Cura doesn't have Max Volumetric Speed limit parameters for a filament, at least I couldn't find it

I see you only have a PLA profile, could you do one for PETG and TPU as well please. Did you get the parts cooling fan to turn on when using the Cura?
@justhereforthalolz
@justhereforthalolz 7 ай бұрын
I've been scanning the comments for the same answer. I'll take the silence as a no. Therefore the profiles are rather pointless without proper fan control for proper cooling :/ My guess is that if he HAS. He plans on putting it behind some sort of Paywall which would be yet another reason to just sell the K1/K1 Max and get a real printer.
@InfinityDrones
@InfinityDrones 7 ай бұрын
@@justhereforthalolz to be honest I've always used his profiles for my petg prints and just modified hotend and bed temps. I always do heat and retraction towers as it's always subject to filament changes. Tpu is the one I'm probably the least comfortable in knowing what is best. Especially because the speed required is alot slower. So I would love a solid base like a CHEP profile for that.
@justhereforthalolz
@justhereforthalolz 7 ай бұрын
@@InfinityDrones You forgot the biggest problem. All those other things you've "always" used..... are not for the K1/K1 Max. His past profiles have nothing to do with the problem that Creality created. A completely unusable slicer app. Those other machines you've used were all designed to work with the slicers you were dealing with. This one is the black sheep of the bunch. They purposely tried to corner the slicer market by purposely making their flagship incompatible with them and failed miserably. No profile, regardless of materials being used, will ever work without being able to properly control the fans of the machine. This has been a major problem with the K1/K1 Max and other slicer apps since they dont have the ability to do any of that without some serious jerry rigging of g-code in order to do so. The problem here isnt with the CHEP profiles, the problem is Creality itself in trying to force people into only their own slicer app. That was the absolute most retarded business decision ever made in the history of mankind and has resulted in a whole lot of very expensive paper weights now polluting the earth. So now, rather that having to produce profiles for specific MATERIALS for a machine (like all those past profiles you used from CHEP), you're having to find profiles just to get the machine to work at all and that is 100% purpose defeating and a total waste of time as CHEP is learning the hard way.

Maybe increase your virtual memory settings to at least 32 GB if you're running windows. My slicing in the creality print is instant. However, my CPU is running 16 cores but I've solved issues such as crashes other people were having in other programs with larger project sizes. It seems that without the extra virtual memory, the programs always run slower.

Curious, what would the result be if you spent time fine tuning on each slicer equally? I could be wrong and missed something, it appears like you put more effort into refining the parameters for Cura whilst leaving the others stock. I wonder what optimisations you could make on the other 2 slicers. Additionally you never explained why you skipped the orca slicer for the compliant part. Was that an oversight? Good video apart from these observations :)

I’ve had a lot of requests to move my Cura profiles for Ender style to this. I’m not as experienced with the other slicers. Orca just doesn’t deliver for me. The Rober print was fine but much slower with Orca. So I just skipped it.

Add this to the second to last line of the end G-code in Cura "G1 Z150 ; move Z axis back down" All it does is move the Z axis down 150mm so you can take the bed off easily. Seems to work out for me!

I noticed recently that Creality Print when selecting Advanced options for modifying a print profile has a Change Print Color option apparently for the K1 series printers. Upto five colors with changes occurring at different build layers. Have you tried using this feature? I still have my original Ender 3 V2 which I use for multicolor prints. Can this be done using a K1 Max. This might make a popular KZfaq video if it can be done.

I just don't get what people see in OrcaSlicer aside from the multiple build plate thing. I've tried it with my SV06 Plus and Ender 3 and it was frankly a terrible experience, during slicing and in terms of print quality and with the slicer straight up ignoring at least one of my chosen settings. I'm sticking with Cura and your profiles for my Ender 3, and the MAK profiles in SuperSlicer for my SV06 Plus....I can give up being able to slice multiple build plates to get good print quality, decent print speeds, and to know that what I ask the slicer to do will actually be done.

So how does the 16min benchy that comes with the K1 Max accomplish the print so fast. The quality of that print is very good for the speed. Using normal esun pla+. I am trying to replicate that speed. 42 min just seem very slow for high speed machine.
@mrfoameruk

I would say my 16-minute benchy was perfect. Maybe it's because its a new machine and does not got worn parts that introduce artifacts etc. Also, it uses hyper PLA which is a faster filament. Perhaps print the 16-minute benchy using ordinary PLA and see if there's a difference (it might just jam the extruder though)

@@EggplantVolcano, Hi. I just bought my K1 one week ago, I printed the three test prints that came on the flash drive, (they also are downloadable from the cloud), with no problems super fast, the benchy took 16 mins to print with no flaws. There was a firmware update available, which I did do before printing. Creality do have their own software for creating models and printing, so I would say, it's the other software's that are causing print problems, that's why there is lot's of fine tuning to do and each time you make an ajustment you have to do a print until it's perfect or to your satisfaction. Cheers

We get it. You get what you pay for. Thank you captain obvious. Not everyone can afford or is as invested as you are to justify the cost of a Bambu Carbon X1. You're willing to spend the money for a Bambu. Not everyone is but still like 3d printers that print fast. So for the people that are interested in a fast printer that's lower cost, CHEP is doing what he can to make a K1 live up to it's potential despite the rush to market and lack of development or support from Creality.
