14:51 to 22:12 (approximately) is footage from part 4 so don't panic thinking you're losing your mind. Lol Yes, you've most likely seen that section before. I and others were all thinking 'Haven't I seen this?" :-) My favorite find of the day was the books! As a child, I loved the Pooh stories and as a teen enjoyed the Avonlea tv series and books. As a young adult, I was able to travel from the U.S. to Prince Edward Island and see it for myself. Lovely place!

@greyeaglem
@greyeaglem Жыл бұрын
That coffee table isn't as bad as you think. That haziness is just in the varnish. A lot of times you can rub it out with wet cigarette ashes or fine sandpaper. If not, you can pour rubbing alcohol over the area. It will dissolve the varnish so you can scrape it off and won't disturb any original stain. One it's clean and dry, use a lint free rag to rub a new layer of varnish on. Good as new. It's a nice table. I would try to sell it to someone who does refinishing or a DIY person.

That line of poem from the Antigonish was used in the movie "Identity" starring John Cusack, 2003. The first time I heard that quirky line in the movie, I loved it and had to check it out. I've been sharing that poem with many people over the years! Scared the crap out of 10 year old niece and nephew. They were scared to walk up the stairs to bed! They did survive and are much older now, lol.

Thx. this was fun. .. it crushed my heart though, when you threw away, without a second thought, the "well used" water color set box. This is the kind of thing i would have jumped up and down of joy about, if I would have found it in a donation pile. ^^ It seemed to be a good quality water color set as well. They are really worth a lot to someone who likes to paint and who's in a "no / low budget" situation. .. especially those small color boxes, which are very neat for "urban sketching" tours, because they are small and well to handle on the go.

I agree. I collect watercolor tins and take them out on urban sketching or plein air studies. I fill with my own paints too. It's amazing how Reeves, Winsor Newton and Binney and Smith brands with vintage paints are of decent quality. Plus the graphics on some are fantastic! I have about 25 different tins dating back to the late 1890's.

Those old tea cup and saucers can be worth a bit of money and sought after by collectors. Even one servings. The entry in the diary is a poem, one of my favorite ones . The Doctor 's pill containers and such would make a great set to sell, apothecary /medical stuff sells good here. So interesting all the things you find in a clean out. I have taught myself to restore old photos and have gained a great appreciation of them and the history behind the photos people and places. I wish I could see the photos and family names, when I find sets in a yard sell, I scan and upload files onto family search to add them to family trees so they have photos and such for the people. I do love preserving history so our kids can learn about the past.

I did a mosaic on a table like that, so it had a wooden frame when it was all done.🖤🇨🇦

Such a lot of effort. The coffee table would be great if painted..the chabby chic trend. ❤

Be sure not to pitch that old Reeves watercolor tin. They are pretty popular sellers. They don’t sell for a lot, but they are popular. Lots of watercolor artists like to empty them and reuse the tins for their own wc pans or for “whatever.” As you know, the old logos and packaging colors are very appealing.

White markings on a laquered table are easy to remove; sounds dangerous, is not really: pour some cologne/ any strong alcohol on the surface and set it on fire. It will make it look as new, done it many times.

The paint boxes would sell.. artists would actually pay pretty nicely for them, especially with the paint still in them, even well used. But they can be reused for new water colors. Also, are there any colleges around there with like carpentry majors? Instead of throwing away older wooden furniture, maybe they'd take it as a donation to fix up .. as a class on restoration or something???
