I have been struggling with CGM recently, I just hit my year mark, and I felt pretty much as clueless as I did on day one. I feel like I've been spending too much time buying and trying new products thinking that it'll fix everything, but I think I need to spend more time trying my current products in different ways. I don't know what about this video was the puzzle piece that I was missing, but I feel like I just had the best wash day in a long time. My waves feel very defined but still soft, and nowhere near my normal amount of frizz. I honestly watched probably four of your videos today "prepping" for my wash day, and who knew that you would upload one today that would be exactly what I needed. Thank you for all that you do!!

I JUST REALIZED - The reason that adding more water when using low-poo shampoo creates more suds is that the shampoo has been rubbed into the scalp a bit (which mixes it with the sebum - natural oils - and dirt), which means the scalp is already cleaner... which means that it's almost as if you're doing a second washing! Once the scalp is cleaner any shampoo will create more suds when water is added! The Blowout Professor (who doesn't focus on curls, but more on creating healthy hair) actually stresses that the first wash, even using a high-poo shampoo, will create less suds because the scalp (and hair) are dirty! I guess the info from both him and Courtney are finally sinking into my thick head (wish my hair was as thick as my head)! lol

Courtney: I’m fairly new to truly going naturally curly and trying to use the CMG method (like since November). I watched your latest video on how to get your curls to clump. My hair likes to clump in very small curls. Well, I bought the conditioner and styling products and tried your method of swinging your hair from side to side. OMG!! My curls really did clump in much bigger clumps!!! Thank you so much for the tips. And the products are great. I am allergic to a lot of hair product’s scents, but these products smell fruity/citrusy and don’t bother me. Thx again!!

I tried this today with my hair right side up with the flipping and extra water. It worked very well! My waves clumped nicely and turned out very nice. I was pleased with the results. My hair is barely wavy and I still question if I'm truly wavy as my hair straightens quite easily, but it's the few ringlets on the under parts of my hair that give me some hope. Thank you for your tips and advice!
@SwavyCurlyCourtney

Yeayy! I'm so glad this worked! You know, I think some curl patterns can be harder to manage depending on the hair texture. And I think fine haired waives have it pretty tough because our hair doesn't really hold its shape well. You might try using slightly more hard hold gel in your hair and see if that helps. Or you might let your hair sit in the cast longer.

I began doing curly girl to SAVE time doing my hair in my busy mornings. My hair HOLDS the moisture in so it takes hours to dry. I like watching your videos, but they appear to make me feel like it is for those who love taking a lot of time with their hair. You are dressed while doing your hair. I find that it’s easier to wash & condish in the shower, wet plop and get dressed and do make up and THEN take care of my hair after all of that and spraying my hair with water before applying products then micro plopping etc.

Your videos are incredibly helpful, Courtney. I've never had curl clumps until recently, but so far it's only a couple. I'm also still in the transition stage. Before the CGM, I clarified with sulfates daily and used a deep conditioner or hair mask, due to my hair being so tangled. Couldn't use a regular shampoo and conditioner. This was the only thing that helped. Also blew dry my hair and flat ironed on the highest heat possible (with a heat protectant) for many years. All my products contained silicones. I no longer use sulfates or silicones, I alternate between sulfate free shampoos and cowashes. I lost more hair prior to embracing my waves/curls, now it may be a strand or two. One thing I've noticed and it sounds crazy, now that I don't use heat at all, my gray has disappeared significantly! I read that heat can actually CAUSE gray hair! 🤤

This video was super helpful and I can’t wait to try it because I have that issue with styling upside down and getting frizzy when I flip. My question is this though- when I started watching CGM videos and my friend has helped me I didn’t know what product recommendations to take and throw out. The only product I bought and stuck to so far is the Curls leave in that I will never ever give up. I think I’d really love another week in your wash routine to see how you rotate products because I keep buying new products and not knowing if i should use them every wash day or not

Thank you thank you thank you so much for this video! I was getting close to giving up with my transition but today I gave your routine a go. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and am 100% committed once again thanks to you. I’m 40 yrs old and have been frying my curls for 20 odd yrs not having a clue how to handle them/the frizz (I so wish the curly girl method was a thing way back then lol), I had serious doubts that I would ever be able to revive them. I feel so pretty and wanted to show you my appreciation.

Thank you SO SO SO much for this video!! I’ve been doing the curly girl method for the last 4 months and all of the clumping and wet frizz issues that you mentioned in this video are things I’m up against right now! This gives me so much hope that I can get this right as I’ve had so many bad wash days lately and it’s been getting a bit discouraging. Your videos helped me get on this journey and I don’t know if I would have ever known the true potential of my natural curly hair without them. Thank you for doing what you do, Courtney! 🙏💜🙏

That's a lot of work! I find that I just rake and smooth the product through my hair and then plop for maybe half an hour and let it air dry and I get the most wonderful big waves/curls. The most helpful advice you gave in your other video about curl clumps was what I found the most helpful for me and that was that with this type of looser wave, it's important to use a CREAMY product. When I use creamy products my hair all sticks together and forms the most beautiful big soft curls. But if I use something like a spray or an oil my hair all separates into very very thin little locks that look like mouse tails and then when it dries the curls are all stringy. But your videos are so super helpful. I haven't seen any other videos that talk about curl clumps but if you have super tight curls then you've got a fixed tight curl pattern that your hair will always fall into no matter what you do, but loose waves without a very defined pattern need help to clump.

@enik8747
@enik8747 4 жыл бұрын
@@devinmichelle7503 i used to get that on my left side and my theory is: every time I let my hair down, I would gather all my hair in front of my right shoulder, which means that the left side of my hair would be draped over my neck while the right side hair would be on top. So the left side hair got used to being relatively straight by always being wrapped over my neck (and that becomes hair memory). I've stopped doing that and my left side has improved pretty quickly

I followed your method so much better this time. Its not that your first one wasn't good because it was. I have been struggling with stringy weighed down incobsistent washday curls. Today I took out my tsp and had much better curl clumps. I have gone curly since Oct 19 and I won't lie once my heads over the sink and I wet my hair my memory gets washed down the drain lol. Today lots of curls but with even less than a tsp I probably used too much Giovanni Super hold gel. But still working out things out. Top of head still flattens but in time I will get a better layering when allowed. Thank you somuch Courtney best results in these many months.
