Hey Kendra! I have the same hair texture as you. I use a different method to stretch my curls because heat just damages my hair. I’ll style my hair with my Uncle Funky’s Supercurl Moisturizer then add the Uncle Funky’s Curl Stimulator for a light hold and allow my hair to air dry- which days about 8hrs. That night I put my hair in 2 ponytails using silk scrunches and pull the mid shaft and ends up towards the top of my head with a butterfly clip. I place my silk scarf on before going to bed and the next day when I let my hair down my curls are still so defined; yet stretched.

Both you & your Sister have thick hair. But yours appear to be super thick. I always a assumed shrinkage had to do with the density of hair. Great tips ❤

FYI- The opposite of thick hair is fine hair. Thin hair means having less hair and has nothing to do with a single strand diameter.

Kendra, thanks for sharing your stretching process. I’m going to try your technique of only stretching the bottom and middle. I too find that when I stretch the top of my hair, it can appear damaged if I don’t get it just right.
