So here’s what you do, go on Instagram and search hairstylists and your city or a city near you. A number of accounts will come up scroll through and look and see who does hair that you like especially curly. Why not show them a tutorial on shags? Seriously I find so many comments that say” nobody can do this cut” but I mean a decent stylist should listen to you and be willing to try! Especially when there are videos showing Bryce actual cutting process. Give it a try.

Hahaha. I believe keeping the haircut simple makes it easy to achieve a look that flows all the way through instead of looking like separate haircuts. However, I always stay open to new sectioning because it can create a great map for the Haircut. But I agree with you too. Many sections is not good. My usual is 4 to 5 sections. I’ll be dropping some new videos soon, so please subscribe.

She is beautiful. She is part Afro-American. I worked directly with her texture but not forcing it to do anything other than what it wants to. This is my style of cutting. When you say this time move the opposite way towards the face, do you mean you are overextending the sections towards the front? The way you overextended them to the back first time round? This haircut looks fabulous. I plan to do a version of this cut on my mother’s hair. She’s 81 but she’s always rocked the unruly wavy layered look! Her hair is shorter but similar kind of texture. I think she will need a slightly shorter fringe as she can’t tolerate hair in her eyes.

Mr. Carreon, I would love to get this hairstyle. I have natural curly hair but somewhat unruly with frizz. Will it look well if the style is shorter? I would like it shorter. Also, I have a small forehead. How could I style it without bangs? I cannot stand hair on my face. The sides for me are okay because, if they bother me, I'll just pull it behind my ear. I am used to having my hair behind my ears. Would it lose the style of the shag if I use it behind the ears? The bangs are definitely out for me. I noticed that you respond to questions, so thank you in advance. I am a senior citizen. In the early 70s, there was a hairstyle also called the shag. I live in Laredo, Texas, a border town bordering Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. I would just cross the bridge to get my hair cut at a salon called El Viena Salon. Well, I went to get my shag. I was in my early 20s. The stylist who cut it for me looked like she was 13 or 14 years old. I thought she wasn't going to do a good job. The style was more like in layers with the last layer around the nape area longer because you had to use hair rollers vertically placed. The young lady did such a good job that I got so many compliments. The following month, when I went to get a trim, she wasn't there anymore.

Shags can be done with a long bang that will probably end up behind your ears as well. This can work if the crown is shorter. A shag is layers usually with lift at the crown for shorter layers. Go on Instagram or Twitter and type in #LaredoHairstylist this will bring up many hairstylists in your area with photos of their work. Find the shag specialist. It can. With modifications on the technique it can be perfect. Curl is different on every person but I have done this haircut style on many women with far less hair. Thanks for your comment and please subscribe

Here’s what you do you go on Instagram, search for hairdresser in your city or a city near you and all kinds of accounts will come up. Look for curly hair and find someone that you like their work. Book a consultation first so that you can have a long chat with them and discuss what you want to do. Bring some photos so that you can communicate what you like and what you don’t. The spray is not a hairspray. It is an aerosol wax spray. I love wax on textured hair because it helps to bring the ends together so it’s not as fly away. It helps to make each curl a little more chunky and individual. Thanks for watching and asking the question.
