You mentioned "diet". Do you know how the diet was changed?

Great progress! I have a 4 1/2 year old OTTB filly that I brought home from the track on 1/5/20. Pulled aluminium plates she had on, off on 1/15/20. I have had her barefoot since, and am hoping that she can be a comfortable barefoot horse. My farrier and I are taking it day by day, and I paint the soles of her feet daily with Hawthorne's- Venice Turpentine, to toughen them up. She is on pasture turnout during the day, stalled (thick rubber mats) at night. Some days she walks on the asphalt road to her big field, and small gravel section of our road just fine, other days pretty ouchy. I know this is probably a vague question, but about how long does it take for them to adjust? I know it's not been that long, but on her ouchy days, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. I am a firm believer in a healthy barefoot horse and only shoe as LAST resort. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.🙂

Hey Bruce. Yes, we discussed this case at the end of July. This horse actually got significantly worse in the beginning of August with more sole shedding and increased sole pain, to the point where he could barely walk on gravel even with a boot. The new EQ Sole Therapy was started around August 16, 2018 and the current video was done this past week. He was at his current state of soundness and significant sole improvement around mid-October (8 weeks), I just didn't have time to put together a video of his progress until recently, due to attending veterinary conferences. The improvement in that 8 week period is pretty significant for him, considering his history. I think, to be honest, part of his biggest issue was the poor sole health and growth being further complicated by stall exposure to urine etc, and the very moist conditions we have had here in the past few months. The EQ Sole Therapy has been the ticket for this guy. What's interesting, is that in our bacterial studies, there is significant reduction in solar bacterial populations when using this product, especially beta-hemolytic streptococcus, which are known for their ability to create tissue damage. So, is his response due to this 'anti-bacterial' effect, thus allowing for improved growth and integrity? Many components of the formula that could be providing clinical benefit. Overall, point here is that he is much improved and now heading in the right direction. Thanks!
