There were actually very minimal improvements and this horse was still significantly lame in the last clip. Supplements can be used to treat symptoms of conditions like osteoarthritis and hock fusion, but they typically require some other form of treatment.

Why in the hell are they riding this horse. It's obviously lame!!!

Thanks. Very clear. My horse had cellulitis. A few months after he was well, he started hind leg shifting, then was really sick w fever for 5 wks, still small episodes of fever and shifting after that. Can joint inflamation/sepsis reoccur without swelling and heat, like can it be so deep it's hidden? Could he have gotten over any joint sepsis in the rear legs with only antibiotic and not had to be flushed. Anyone?

So this horse didn’t have any joint injections or NSAIDS or other treatment, he was only placed on the Cur-OST during those couple months?

Great presentation! We have seen anti cancer activity with the use of oral Chlorella and higher doses particularly in cutaneous MCTs. Read your article on IVC from some years ago. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge.

Can you mention what you are seeing that indicates lameness in the right hind. I'm SURE it's there, but I would love to know what exactly you are seeing off in his gait. For less experienced eyes, it's difficult to see. Thank you!

To horse owners out there, the more thorough the history you can provide your veterinarian, the better job he/she can do with diagnosis. Not a criticism, but a suggestion. 😁

Every vet should be required to watch this video. I have a horse who came up lame on a Saturday morning. I sent a video to my vet to see if it required an emergency visit (which I was more than willing to pay for!). She advised me to treat it like an abscess (even though I told her there was swelling above the fetlock) and bring him in Monday morning. It was NOT an abscess. The consequences were devastating. She skipped a step and assumed it was in that 80% chance that it was an abscess. I guess she had another big weekend planned and didn't want it interrupted. Ultimately, my horse and I paid the price.

Thanks for providing this information. I have become very interested in how you review radiographs. When I have Vets do them I am always disappointed with the information they share. I feel I am learning enough to at least ask good questions and to begin to compare images over time. I think radiograph review would be a great topic for one of your instructional video’s in nouvellersearch.teachable

What supplement would you recommend for rebalancing the hindgut?? My horse is experiencing some pretty bad hindgut issues, and I was thinking earlier today that the issues have seemed to kind of coincide with starting a supplement a couple months ago - and then saw your video - the supplement has a couple probiotics in it: Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, Lactobacillus casei fermentation product, Enterococcus (Streptococcus) faecium fermentation product, Bifidobacterium longum fermentation product, Dried Aspergillus oryzae fermentation extract. 😳 So I am pulling him off immediately and seeing if there is a change, but in the meantime would love suggestions on how to rebalance everything if you would be willing/able to share. Your insight would be very appreciated! 🙂

I have horses on pasture in high dessert, the TBs come in for a few flakes of hay at night. They do show some but, when home are in a heard on 20 acres 24/7. I am concerned they aren’t getting the nutrients they need. Do you consider a balancer type pellet or a mineral supplement?

Great progress! I have a 4 1/2 year old OTTB filly that I brought home from the track on 1/5/20. Pulled aluminium plates she had on, off on 1/15/20. I have had her barefoot since, and am hoping that she can be a comfortable barefoot horse. My farrier and I are taking it day by day, and I paint the soles of her feet daily with Hawthorne's- Venice Turpentine, to toughen them up. She is on pasture turnout during the day, stalled (thick rubber mats) at night. Some days she walks on the asphalt road to her big field, and small gravel section of our road just fine, other days pretty ouchy. I know this is probably a vague question, but about how long does it take for them to adjust? I know it's not been that long, but on her ouchy days, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. I am a firm believer in a healthy barefoot horse and only shoe as LAST resort. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.🙂
