Wait, you mean if I just run some current down a wire, I'll produce a magnetic field? Yep, that's exactly what we mean. What it looks like, however, is a bit complicated. Enjoy. Physics with Professor Matt Anderson

I've been watching a lot of these lectures and find them fascinating, wishing I would have stuck with my physics studies at University. I went firmly into System Engineering, but later in life started a electronics hobby. Regardless, these are great lectures, thank you so much for your work.

It was an attractive B field because it was of opposite fields. Where the two parallel B fields meet/at the shortest radius they are in opposing fields. Love your stuff. And yes I have been scratching my head on how you can orientate yourself on your glass screen respective to your audience. Nice job.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Intro to the screen here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eb14gNeEs7HciXU.html Cheers, Dr. A

How do we know at 5:14 that the magnetic field in the second wire is going into the page?

Sir is it possible for longitudinal waves to get polarized if yes then plzz explain with reason
@yoprofmatt2 жыл бұрын
Great question. The short answer is no. Since in a longitudinal wave, the disturbance is "forward and backward" there is no other option. In a transverse wave the disturbance is "side to side" so it could be up and down or left to right. Hope that helps. Cheers, Dr. A

Thank u sir but, I read in the book and it says that it is possible to polarise a longitudnal wave

Are the two wires attracted or not? You did not mention the answer to this question
@yoprofmatt Жыл бұрын
Current in the same direction, wires are attracted. Cheers, Dr. A

Good problem. Exchanges of magnetic fields is tricky. Have to use good notation.
@yoprofmatt2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Notation is key (and I sometimes get sloppy). Cheers, Dr. A

@@yoprofmatt Oh geeze, me too! But I hate3 having to start a problem over again.

Ahaha I see you explain that you actually use your left hand in this video and flip it Seems like I commented a bit too early on the other video
@robinhooper77022 жыл бұрын
No. no this is precisely his point. When using the left hand rule you will realize the opposite b field direction. These opposing fields attract each other.
@yoprofmatt2 жыл бұрын
I think they were commenting on my use of the left hand to demonstrate the right hand rule. I would avoid worrying about that and practice your own right hand rule. But definitely not in a mirror. Cheers, Dr. A
