Urgency is "the exception, not the rule." Lots of companies exist where the entire workforce is just one big fire drill. Total trainwreck. This is the failure of management to not focus the workforce on high value instead of high volume. The worst part is that management likely will run you into the ground before they care or fail.

I have found the "three-fold nature of work" paradigm helpful here - some types of work (or workday!) are full of unplanned work (aka interruptions). But there is usually a need to pay attention to predetermined work and defining work before long!

I find the 2 minute rule to help to increase the overall throughput of things I'm getting done. Sometimes, what's pending for a big project is simply an email confirmation that takes 2 minutes - so you should just do right away and unlock the space for other things to get done.

Book has helped in many ways.. One concern observing ..had set Excel for projects and set a calender for next action, but many actions can't be closed on time ,so no of reminders are getting piled up very high and little difficult to clear in time..any suggestions sir
