For reference, the shield is about the size of a 5p coin. Richard's brush control is off the chart.

Thanks for the video! I've seen a lot of NMM, but I'm still surprised at how convincing yours looks in the final shots towards the end. Just goes to show that you don't need to spend hours slaving away at it to get really credible results either. About 34:00, the VGC Extra Opaques do use the Model Color formula. Most of them are actually relabels of existing VMC paints that happened to be roughly similar to the old Citadel Foundation paints, but a couple of them (like Heavy Warmgrey) were made exclusively for the VGC line.

More vids like this please! Really Great tutorial. The nmm elements were especially helpful and instructive. One vid for every hero and villain in Cursed City would be splendid. 😬. No pressure.

Exceptional video. I really love you work and your distinct style. Any chance of a video showing how you set up your palette like that and get those neat little pools of paint? Your painting looks so controlled and precise and I don't think I've seen you setting up you palette either in a video on here or on patreon.

Absolutely amazing, this helped me wrap my head around a lot of NMM basics, and has helped me understand looking at metallics for the colours (like seeing objectively what colours the shadows, midtones and bright points actually are) as well as general how to add light properly. Been trying to do basic OSL on mollogs mob, might try some of this on the rest of it and for painting my necrons.

Great work Rich, very insightful! I'm finding it hard to jump into this style with such high focus on light, shadow and the texture which affects them because it's so different from how all my other minis are painted. In your opinion; should you hold off until starting a new collection to change style, repaint your current collection to suit the style you're adopting, or just mix it in and not worry quite so much?

Your color started drying up relatively fast. Are you painting in a dry environment or to you tend to keep your wet pallet on the dry side?

How important is the specific white (Morrow White)? I know P3 is usually matt, but can any white be used for this recipe?

you seem to use quite large flat pools of paint? What is the reason for this? Do you dilute them with something beforehand for example
@demonrich

They are mixed with water to get the desired consistency. I find having the large flat colours makes it much easier to get the exact colour I want.
