bro I don't care how seemingly senseless any of this seems, I don't think it can be called silly...pure GENIUS. It's only after people see it do they go..."oh I could have built that", in reality it takes a very creative thinker to put all this into motion.

Obviously a kindred spirit. 😄. I always say figuring out how to do it is more than half the fun. I would suggest you pile the split wood directly into your pallet wood boxes then you don’t have to repile it again. So far I’ve got about a dozen cords lined up at the back of the yard that way. When I need wood I just move two boxes into the carport by the door.

Man I would not put your machine down at all.I think your very smart.I could not build that. And you said your chainsaw jumped around and stuff didn't look like that to me it fell through that wood like a hot knife through butter to be an electric chainsaw. And I got to give you credit for using an electric log splitter.Sure you machine could be improved to run on all electric or all gasoline but I give you 5 stars for making it with what you have thats the way i would do it...

Man I like it. Sure it's not the Industrial model but it saves literally tons of back pain and picking up work. I have several of these old truck liners that have not had the heart to toss out. Now I know where to use the material. I'd need to build some what heavier being that we get a fair amount of oak, ash , hickory n the like. Already have a hydraulic horizontal, vertical splitter. Thanks for a simple made idea on how we also could build one. Also a good friend found and gave me a couple old 8" wide flat belts and have been wanting to build a conveyor that could be put at the offload of the splitter.

Come on guys. The basics are all here! This is the type of stuff I love to see. There are so many video's on here of huge monolithic machines that cut and split slower than this one simply because people threw more money at it than common sense. He has some great R&D into this, with very little invested. He can now seek out the weakest link and make adjustments from there. First off would be the splitter in my opinion. It's the slowest part but it works without hiccup. The chainsaw can definitely use tightening on the chain, you can clearly see it flopping around. this may be due to the nuts loosening up due to vibration and the square stock not being machine smooth (No big!) Some lock washers should fix this. The chain went through the wood pretty well, it just hung up a bit and I noticed the weight of the winch alone wasn't enough to stop the log from moving and binding the saw. Fixed saw and moving log = pinch.. Or how can I explain that better. I hope you got the idea. If you put a lever on the winch arm you can put pressure on it while dropping the chainsaw and it would solve most of your hangup issue. Bigger saw, faster splitter and you're on your way to processing much much faster. I'm not knocking your setup. If you're happy with it and it does everything you want it to (proof is under those tarps which looked to be more wood than the camera was showing) then it ain't broke--so don't fix it. I'm contemplating smashing my head on the keyboard with the ingenious idea of using bed liner. I'll have to keep an eye out at the scrap yard for one. It's slick, more than durable *facepalm* Props man, good stuff here.

Very clever RedNic. Several comments; I am not crazy about the idea of the chainsaw cutting towards you. A guard for that would ease my concern for you or any other operator. Glad to see the kill switch and the guard over the winch. Can I suggest you make an adjustable log stopper to control the length of the log prior to cutting so that correctly sized logs then roll down to the splitter. Full points for ingenuity and the 3 R's; Reduce, Reuse [or Re-purpose in this case] and Recycle.

it is pretty cool.. I'm always thinking of what happened if I not home and my wife should have doing that by herself.. so this will help any one without the muscles.. so I recommend you placing a chain in the winch with the same dragging system at the start of the ride so it will automatically drag wood from the truck with the same winch.. so you don't have to lift it up from truck to your firewood cutting machine. I hope I made myself understand.
