Custom Predator 224 HEMI Build Part 1

MAX Performance Predator 224cc… In today’s episode of DIY Willy, I will be taking about my next engine build. I plan on changing the cam and installing a Predator Hemi head on my predator 224 Max Performance engine.

Awesome! Thanks for the shout out Willy! We're gonna have to start a 224 Hemi club. LOL I think yours is gonna be faster than mine with that milled hemi head. I'm not sure how I feel about that! 🤣 See ya buddy!

I don’t know I’m leaving the governor in for now. I still don’t have any of the billet stuff yet. I am excited though to finally have a Hemi. Thanks for watching. And I’ll definitely be watching your channel for the latest and greatest on the 224’s…

@@DIYWilly My 224 Hemi still has the governor too. We may have do something about that. I hear ya on the clearance for the Hemi engines. Working on valve clearance now on the 212 Ducar hemi build. Love your channel Willy!

@@KentuckyFriedFixes I’m hoping they clear the piston but if they don’t I saw a video of a guy(can’t remember who) glued sand paper to the valves and used a drill to sand valve reliefs in the piston. Might have to try it. I also enjoy you channel. I have watched you 224 videos over and over. You provide SOOO much helpful information with each one. Thanks again!!

@@DIYWilly you can put predator 212 hemi rockers in there. That is key to fixing the valve problem these have.

@@DIYWilly apparently the lash comes loose. The stock rockers may be distorting at high heat.

I'll check in with some people on it bit I picked up the tid bit about the rockers somewhere recently.

@@DIYWilly some people have no joy In life I love your videos you do a great job you will always have critics had a guy tell me I talk so clear and don't use profanity thought to myself you have no idea how hard it really is considering in real life u don't have a filter for what comes out my mouth sat it like I see it lol

Hmmm... I was going to say... I'll ship you a clone cam if you ship me the 224 head? I'm joking but I do have a 13 year old never used stock 196 cam that fits the 224. And the 224 head would work real nice on my 196. Did you see the size of the inlet ID on the stock muffler? I may try running it. I will be using it for initial start up/cam break in.

Someone else mentioned the size of the exhaust. I need to look at that better.

Dynocams now makes preclearenced cams that fit my Ducar and your Predator. Minimal clearencing needed if any, most of the time none I have heard.

I know its not a mini bike or kart,, but for grins n giggles, i need a new engine on my rototiller, i know ill go hemi,, like anyone will notice but me

You might notice. My hemi seems to have a little more torque on the low end vs my 2 clone head engines, which I would imagine is good for a tiller that you would run at stock rpm.
