I’ve almost always kept my guitars on stands or on hangers once I had a music room big enough. I’ve been playing since I was 12 and I’m 64 now. I’ve never had an issue and I live in the south where the humidity is crazy. I keep the temperature in my music room at a constant temp (I have a mini-split for that room). I’ve heard people go on rants about guitars had to be kept in cases. Have you ever been to a music store and had to open up cases to look at guitars? No, of course not. I just think everyone has an opinion but some people want to force theirs on everyone else. I choose to hang mine. If you choose to store yours in cases, by all means go for it.

@@bks252 That's the exact thought process I've been using. I now live in TN and the climate is different than where I used to live. I've noticed my music room tends to be warm, so I regulate the heat. The window faces south, so I bought 2 inch blinds and keep them closed during the day. I have a hygrometer and I bought a small dehumidifier but the humidity % never got down to 40, even with it running continuously. I also wasn't having to empty it every day. Two weeks ago, two days in a row, I was in that room playing and heard what sounded like a pebble or a bird hitting the window. Then I found, an old Stella guitar hanging on that wall, more for ornamental reasons, had started to separate at the binding. I don't want that happening to my better guitars that are hanging on a String Swing on another wall. I called a local luthier who says he keeps his shop at the 30% range with a humidifier. When I finally found one that goes that low, I ordered it and bought another hygrometer. I just received the humidifier today. Even this hygrometer has not registered less than 50%. I'm afraid even a small humidifier will make it tropical in that room and I don't want to have to deal with moisture and mold or warping due to excessive humidity. I'd prefer not having my instruments in cases and yes, I've noticed music stores don't do that. I cannot explain what caused that Stella guitar to start coming apart at the seams though.

Apologies for respectfully disagreeing with you. The show is a shadow of what it used to be ( A trade show). Now it’s no more than a photo opp for spotty KZfaq influencers. The marketing departments in both of those companies are far too professional to get involved in what is, now, a rather seedy event. Have a good look at the footage, Have you ever seen so many scruffy individuals walking around in one place. If my marketeers suggested exhibiting there I would seriously consider sacking them.

@@cyclesgoff9768 - yeah i get it. i totally understand why FMIC and Gibson pulled out of NAMM - the business of guitar sales has changed from working with authorized dealers to big box stores and direct marketing. but from the standpoint of a fan of new music gear (not a sales exec or marketing VP) i enjoy the NAMM show. i agree it's not what it used to be back in the day, but i still look forward to it every year. likely the same reason you ended up on this anderton's vid.
