In this episode Custom Cez explains how does the CV carburetor works and how to adjust the mixture screw.
With the help of a detailed animation, we can observe how the carb works from the inside.
After publishing the original "Cv carburetor rebuild" ( • How to tune your CV ca... ) we have received many messages requesting more info, so we decided to produce this video to properly finish the job.
Among the messages we were contacted by CV Performance with some suggestions. You can reach them on their site:
Vacuum piston assembly: www.cv-performance.com/harley-...
Then Custom Cez goes through the process of adjusting the idle mixture screw to optimize engine performance and throttle response.
Don't forget to leave your suggestions in the comments and to share our videos in your social networks.
What did we do:
0:00 - Intro
1:53 - jets cleansing
2:23 - vacuum slide and diaphram assembly replacement
3:37 - what is the idle mixture screw
4:08 - how does the cv carburetor work animation
4:45 - how does the idle mixture screw work
5:45 - how does the carburator's choke work
6:03 - functionality of the mixture screw
7:00 - location of the carburator's mixture screw
7:45 - theory of the idle mixture screw: lean vs enrich mixture
9:30 - idel mixture adjustment procedure
13:02 - are your jets the right size for your engine?
13:28 - are your gaskets air tight?
13:58 - diy exhaust fumes pumping system
15:20 - ending

Those graphic pictures, along with verbal explanations, made for a clearer picture of how the entire fuel delivery of the CV carb works. Great presentation, once again.

Probably one of the best explanations of how the cv Or any carb for that matter, works that I have seen. The well executed use of graphics really added to getting a clear message across and helped give "life" to the mysterious internal workings of a carburator. A picture is worth a thousand words and video is many more than that. I appreciate that you are not afraid to share when it is pointed out something you have previously is in error, You are only human after all, and we all make mistakes. How one handles being called out on one says much about a persons integrity.

This video saved my day man. I figured out my vent hose was clogged. This was causing the pressure in the float bowl to hold the needle open and making my ATV run super rich and backfire and bog down... If I hadn't seen those animations I would have never thought to check the vent hose.

I liked the animation too. you should tell your viewers that since you don't ride the bike at idle that screw doesn't do shit.
@CustomCez
@CustomCez 6 жыл бұрын
+Burt Reynolds thank you burt, yes u don’t ride at idle but the the small Jet provides fuel to the system at least until half way to full throttle. So it is pretty important for responsiveness and pick up, also for spark plugs health.

from 4:00 minutes to 6:30 minutes was the best and most understandable explanation of how a carburetor works that I have ever seen. And the animation with the music was excellent as well, I feel like that section of the video deserves to be taught in tech schools around the world. It would of helped me out A LOT if I had seen that as a kid, but I didn't... So I learned the long hard way by breaking things lol. Good job

I appreciate you pointing out the cap covering the adjustment screw. I have a Yamaha XS 1100 and had to replace one of the four carbs. I ordered a carb body off eBay but noticed there was a brass plug covering the adjustment screw. Good to know it can be removed if needed. Thanks.
