Wouldn't bother with 25mm boxes nowadays, 35mm would be the minimum depth I used for most sockets/switches, gives you wiggle room for cables, etc.

Not a criticism here. Just a genuine question. Since when has it been accepted nailing boxes to brick? I was always told roundheaded screws only as it's bad practice to use nails. I do see the use of Spit nails in boxes more and more but they are a pain in the arse to get off a wall when flushed - a job that is a pain in the arse without the use of nails. Increased likelihood of damaging the wall fabric trying to wrestle then out.

Agreed. I always stick with old school screw fixing. Plus I'm surprised nick surface clipped the cables rather than using oval initially as I assume walls being dabbed Ain't knocking him he's sound af 😊

Yeah , when I was an apprentice I was told, you could always tell the rough ones, they would not use grommets and nail boxes on. I can tell you it's a nightmare when you go to a job and the box needs replacing and it's nailed on.

Part M covers disabled heights. Rewires still come under Part M. A customer can request for you not to follow Part M (get it in writing). Whilst you’ll be allowed to do it on rewires, planning permission for new builds will make it a requirement to follow Part M regs.

I'm only here as an DIYer, but one thing that peevs me about my house is the back boxes nailed in, give it a couple of years of pulling plugs in and out and they start to come loose, this is obviously standard practice but seems short sighted?
