You said it, barely broken in. With the prices of new and used cars, maintain it the best you can and drive it into the ground

💯, that thing was still better then most Ford’s or Dodge’s with half the miles.

If they just want to get one more year out of this 4Runner, they can give it to me after that year.

I do all the work on my car if it’s something I can’t I let one guy touch my car. He is good. But no joke I would not hesitate to let you touch my 4R.

What happened to the transmission?
@VikingsGarage
@VikingsGarage 7 ай бұрын
Long story short, due to no fluid exchange ever… at 180k there was a small shudder in the torque converter from 1st to 2nd. Customer opted for replacing both trans and torque converter.

Could possibly have been repaired instead of replaced, but that gave them a good piece of mind.

@haydenh6339 Actually, thanks to me… they are not. I’ve been working on this one, after the transmission job the customer has been doing it all. Was kept up service wise more or less before that.

What shop do you work at in NJ. I would rather bring my 4runner there if I need any work done.

Wait until you have to replace the catalytic converters,,,, all 4!! Toyota in Canada quotes just over $7,000,,,,,, I can put a new motor in any domestic for that price and if I take care of it,,, 193,000 miles is realistic with them as well!! I do like the4Runner, but they get d*mn expensive to keep right around 150,000 + miles. If you use Toyota parts though, they will last another 150,000+ miles. They are just expensive!!!. The quote was about 50/50 parts vs labour costs. 😮😮😊

I’ve never in my career had to replace all the Cats in a 4Runner. I work on about a dozen of them a week on average . 🤷🏼‍♂️

My cousin at just over 200,000 kms, my nephew at just over 250,000 kms, my buddy had his done as well, but I don’t know the mileage. The local dealership keeps a set on hand at all times. I know they need to be done. Many people just drive their vehicles ignoring the service engine light. It’s real. The 4Runners are remarkably reliable! They just aren’t without need of repairs was the point. When using Toyota parts, those repairs can be quite expensive. That’s my experience. Would I buy one? If I didn’t always need a truck, h*ll yeah!!

I got you, OEM parts aren’t cheap. But ultimately that’s the right way to go.
