Customer states and mechanical problems in one digestible video for you to enjoy!
In today's episode of customer states and mechanical problems, a customer states that they made some catalytic converter protection themselves. Another customer asks why it failed the safety test when it drives completely fine.

Video descriptions:
0:00 Intro
0:04 Definitely a bit of an understatement by this customer
0:12 Unfortunately no back story on how they managed to shear this axle
0:25 Ouch time for a new PTU as the gears inside were destroyed with tons of snapped teeth stuck in this sludge
0:41 Mechanics buddy's Chevy Equinox 2.4s timings change stretched. Quoted $9000 for a replacement engine
0:53 Kia Sportage 2014 having some clutch and transmission noise. Most likely the pilot bearing/bushing is on its way out and needs to be replaced ASAP
1:06 I guess Carbon Fiber doesn't only come on fancy cars
1:16 2020 Camaros control arm snapped in half. Probably hit a curb
1:21 Sure is some interesting anti-theft but I don't think it's gonna stop them from cutting those off
1:41 They dangerously got their moneys worth in these tires
1:54 Wiper blade motor isn't sounding too happy
2:02 This customers Mitsubishis dash lights up whenever you try to unlock it with the key fob
2:11 It's crazy the customer thought there was nothing wrong with the way the car handled after seeing the bushing
2:46 This was after the engine had been turned off. Ouch overheated and might need a new head gasket
2:49 This 1993 Broncos new engine is making quite the sound
2:58 Rear shocks are overrated
3:08 2014 Ford Fusions transmission fluid came out looking like this. It may have just been cause it was overfilled though
3:21 Customer sent in this video of their 2016 Ford 150 making this weird intermittent knock. Hopefully it's not the timing chain as these are known to fail and when they do cause a lot of damage

@ 0:15 - I can recognize a large percentage of things just by seeing them. But showing the end of some kind of shaft with zero context is dadgummed frustrating. He announces that *it* is f'd up, but doesn't give us even a point of reference. My complete guess is that it is something related to the drive shaft, but but it could be the exhaust system just as easily with the complete lack of details and reference that identifies why it's f'd up and what happened to make it that-a-way....

Its an ecotec, the owners of cars/suvs powered by those generally don't even know the word "maintenance" exists. Could be a bearing(s) missing in one of the pulleys, as it spins they catch up to each other and make a "knock" noise.
@USSRDragon
@USSRDragon Жыл бұрын
My crown Vic had the bearing cage dissolve in the idler and it made a very similar noise but mush faster ast the balls were freely rolling around in the bearing. OE bearings have plastic cages and only 5 bearings in them and seem to have a rather short life. I had metal pulleys so I just took out the idler and tensioner pulleys pressed the OE 6004s out and pressed in 6004ZZ C3 Bearings I had available. 6004ZZ C3 Bearings are high tolerance high speed high load bearings (rated at up to 6k rpm and 2,100lbs dynamic load) completely overkill for belt pulleys.
@user-sk1lk9hk5m
@user-sk1lk9hk5m Жыл бұрын
@@USSRDragon Tensioner RPM's don't require ZZ type bearings. 2RS will also work good, but surely better dust sealed. For my old rusty CrownVic, I use 6-203-2RSC3 NTN or SKF (both available in Russia) bearings in tensioners and pulleys. Custom tensioner, fits all belts from 6PK2000 то 6PK2150. Because my 351 Windsor swapped from E250, and use van type alternator bracket and custom power steering bracket with Saginaw type pump (not Ford type squealing one).
@USSRDragon
@USSRDragon Жыл бұрын
@@user-sk1lk9hk5m never said that it was the best option, simply what I had on hand. I would have used 6004SS bearings had I had a choice. Or maybe zirconia bearings if I felt like being fancy.
