These videos are meant to be educational and funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
0:00 Intro.
0:05 The new engine the customer installed was from a 2012 Honda Civic which is a different engine, so the customer made this reluctor wheel to try and make it work. It didn't work and the crankshaft position sensor was not getting the correct signal and cause the car to keep shutting off on the customer.
0:23 A surprise washer fluid leak. The hose going to the rear window came disconnected.
0:29 Customer declined timing belt replacement last time in was in the shop. Now the repair bill will be a lot more expensive for the customer as he had somebody else do it but the timing belt came off.
0:47 Hopefully the customer gets new brakes soon but at least the exhaust will sound good...
0:59 Customer paid out of pocket to replace fuse box, radiator and other repairs.
1:09 The shop takes photos and a video inspection of each car and it was noted last time it came in that their was no body damage.
1:19 Corrosion was cleaned up and the OEM plastic cover was installed.
1:37 It did in fact have a brake fluid leak from a line that was installed by the customer.
1:53 The fuse box was apparently damaged by the customer.
2:03 The customer wanted the brakes like this and drove away.
2:12 No extra info.
2:22 The paper clip in the OBD port is an old-school trick and not recommended on anything newer!
2:41 Surprised the tire held air and what a very sketchy "repair".
2:51 You don't say...
2:57 This interesting "wrap" that was on a Mercedes-Benz that came in for a tire repair. The technician said it looked to be some sort of paper on the car.
3:10 Outro. Thanks for watching!

The screen "issue" is something I've noticed in a lot of newer car designs. Older car dashboards were recessed so the display was underneath a ledge which blocked sunlight shining on it from above. But I've seen many newer cars with digital displays which have no such ledge. So any time the sun is not shining from the front, it shines directly on and can wash out the display. As best as I can tell, this is a case of artistic design being prioritized over functional design.

Used to be an AAA service truck driver and I responded to a call for a flat tire. Now with inflator kits our policy was we can’t touch them and it becomes a tow call. This kid I stopped to help would not stop whining or moaning about how “ he didn’t have time for this”. By the time his father got there I was using the inflator kit just to shut him up and to get him to quit whining and to get the car moving, I insisted on both signing the liability form and fully releasing me from any problems cause he initially wasn’t going to even get a new tire. His dad told him he was. Breakdowns or flats are always inconvenient but you had better be ready cause they’ll happen when you least expect it or ignore advice from somebody telling you to fix it

This kind of stuff makes me think state safety inspections are a good thing, except they don't actually check anything! I took an old truck in for a water pump, and asked them how much to replace the brakes. The caliper was leaking, zero braking. They quoted me $1600 (WTF were they smoking?! This is a chevy truck not a lambo!) So I said no don't touch it. I also had my yearly inspection done at the same time. First they handed me the inspection report - I passed, nothing wrong! Then they gave me the quote for everything they found wrong - I needed a complete brake system, parking brake shoes and release lever, a missing bulb, bad wipers, and a few other things. And I passed the god damn safety inspection without brakes!!! All they want is the fee. The state does not care about your safety. (and yes, I drove it home without brakes!)

The owner possibly thought that only checked stuff like tread depth? They won't notice the modified side walls.

I can understand why some decline repairs. They simply don't have the funds to pay for it. Some just have to make do with what they have regardless of the dangers.

This is why the only new cars allowed to be sold in the U.S. going forward should be slightly modernized Lada 2107's (Rivas). It's all most people can afford to buy and maintain anymore. The Lada Riva was designed so that Comrades Boris and Ivan could maintain it whilst sloshed on vodka.

0:05 and then there was the day when a customer brought in his BMW E36 325i with a damaged engine. I don't remember what it was. so we calculated swapping engines with one from a local car yard, as they at least won't remove an engine if it ran sketchy. all done and dusted, we realized the original engine had the adjusting intake camshaft, the swapped engine hadn't. but fret not, all you have to do is cut out that part of the cylinder head where the adjustor/actuator goes, which is not a big deal. just took my co-worker 3 hours to do... but engine won't start still. this took a while, until I had the idea to compare both engines' balancers, and lo&behold the spot for the sensor was placed differently! after swapping the balancer the engine ran nicely and without any more error codes. but, BMW, why?

I saw a 'paint job' similar to that last clip at a shop last yea when I put my own own car in for service. The stick on film did not have artwork but a rainbow effect pearl finish that was applied to all the main panels of the car. It made the car very distinctive and I've seen it around town a few times since. Pity the driver is absolutely hopeless, I haven't seen it lately and won't be surprised if it's in a ditch somewhere.
