I had posted a short video on InstaGram of cutting this waterfall edge, and get questions when I do. So here is my process for doing it.

Good stuff Guy, especially the part about setting the bearing behind the fence so it doesn't foul the cut. 👍

Thanks Kuffy! Yeah, it is much better to register the edge against the face of the router fence.

Great video! i looked into chamfer bits and i couldnt find any that large, for example CMT tools had much smaller bits which cant handle 16 or 19 mm material (sorry i dont know in inches, i am from Europe). Could you please share any link or at least name of the bigger bit you are using? thank you

Hey Guy, I'm actually attempting to build almost the exact same thing. Replication of the west elm mid century modern nightstands. How did you join the panels to make the box? Just glue or additional supports? Also, on the face bevel, did you edge band to cover it or were you using solid wood? Thanks for all of the great videos!

I would remove most of the material with the talbe saw and then sneak up on it like you did at the router table. Nice tip!
@GuysShop

That sure is another way of doing it. With a sharp bit, I just don't feel the need to do it that way.
@ensen89
@ensen89 5 жыл бұрын
@@GuysShop "With a sharp bit" are the right keywords. =) I try to put little wear on special tools like these router bit. I think I get away cheaper in terms of sharpening and replacement if I remove most material with the table saw. But that is just thinking. I don't have scientific proof of that.
@GuysShop
@GuysShop 5 жыл бұрын
@@ensen89 Yeah, I dig it. I have had this for about 4 years now. Still very sharp. I'm not doing production with it, so it sees limited use

I may have to try this. Great info. I have an Incra router fence with a Woodpeckers router lift set up on the wing of my table saw. I have a porter cable router motor that was my first router I purchased 25 years ago approx. For turning such a large bit, I am guessing it may not be up to that task. What router motor would you recommend for a table nowadays?

I always thought about doing it that way. Looks like I need a big 45 bit. Is that a whiteside? Also wouldn’t you recommend removing the bulk with a table saw on a 45? Seems like a lot of material to remove in that first pass with a router.
@GuysShop
@GuysShop 5 жыл бұрын
It is a big Whiteside bit. You could remove the bulk with a table saw first if you were so inclined. I don't feel it's necessary and have been doing it this way for a very long time.
