I knit a waistband of a skirt, a tube to accommodate an elastic band. I finished it, joined it all together, and found I TWISTED it - since I had nothing to lose but frogging the whole damn thing.... Watched this video, secured sides, cut a steek and untwisted it! now onto the skirt part! THANK YOU

Thank you for your very clear instructional videos. Unfortunately for me I got so caught up in doing the color work in the yolk I did not try my cardigan on . Once I did try it on I found that my sleeves are way too big and I need to unpick everything back to the sleeves and redo . I don’t really mind because I really enjoyed doing that color work section . Watching the Steek process makes me a little bit less hesitant of cutting into my Knitting so thank you very much

Glad I caught this video. I just started my Maja cardigan and there are so many interesting variations. I decided that as this is my first cardi/steeking, I would go for either no colorwork or minimal. I'm starting with the body and may decide to add some colorwork to the yoke later. I've seen several steeking suggestion and knew to add 5 sts for steeking. I read somewhere to purl the middle stitch and knit the surrounding 2 sts. Watching this, it seems that I need to change that middle purl to a knit sts as I will use one leg during crochet reinforcement. I'm only 10 rnds in and wondering if I should just ladder down that middle sts and change to purl. What do you think. I'm also using just one color which is why I made the middle sts purl so it would be easy to identify the sts to cut into.

This might be a crazy question, but is it possible to steek horizontally somehow? I am down to the ribbing on my first knit top down sweater with colorwork yoke. I used a bigger needle for the colorwork as suggested, then sized down and then did a short row section to bring up back neck as per instruction. I decreased for waist (not sure why, I really don’t have one! Lol!) and now have a weird pouch between waist and yoke. I thought with the weight as it got longer it would just pull out, it didn’t! I would like to just join together stitches above and below this excess fabric and cut it out….the idea of frogging it all the way back is just too much to bear. I may have done that already once for a good 8 inches! Also I am looking forward to the After the rain KAL, which looks like it will be a much better sweater for my beginner level of knitting😊

Take these comments with a grain of salt, knowing that I've never done this. However, it seems to me that you could put in a lifeline through the stitches that you want to cut up to, then also below the section you want to remove. Then maybe you could remove the wedge that created the pouch, then graft your stitches back together?

@@PurlTogether that’s kinda what I wondered…seems plausible, but I couldn’t find anything on this anywhere on internet. I have already jumped in with both feet starting this sweater which is way above my head, maybe I should give it a try…what could possibly go wrong?? Lol! At least I know that I learn something from every mistake Thank you so much for your quick reply, I really have something to think about now!
