Platypuses both amaze and frustrate me simultaneously, mostly because they're the most iconic example of an organism that renders the linnaean classification system useless. They're mammals since they have mammary glands, but also lay eggs and have bills, which is characteristic of aves, which is an entirely different class from mammals. They're magnificent and I hate them

Flamingos were a VERY strange creation, I must say. In the salt flats of Bolivia there are lakes that freeze over every night. The flamingos sleep in the water on one foot and get stuck in the ice. In the morning foxes come and enjoy a free buffet. By noon the ice has melted and by evening the flamingos have forgotten everything. :Repeat:
