I have five Jack wolves, including the gunslinger. All but one had the burnt edge issue (the big bro was the exception). All have performed significantly better after 1-2 sharpens. Still love ‘em all. Thanks for doing these cut tests. It’s nice to get a feel for how different steels, blade shapes, and heat treats do.

Jack Wolf knives definitely need a sharpening or two before they perform their best. I had the Gunslinger, but ended up selling it. The handle was not that comfortable for me. Instead I got the After Hours Jack and absolutely love it!

That things a slicer! I missed out on the gunslinger but got the after hours jack and Its a slicing machine too. Mine didn't have the best factory edge but after I sharpened myself it stays sharp way longer

Do you find a cutting performance difference between a clip point and a drop/spear point that have similar blade stock, length, and cutting edge shape (ie. the only difference being the swedge at the top of the blade being either a clip or a drop/spear shape)?

It has the most to do with how low the tip is in relation to the handle. The tip on this Gunslinger is quite high , whereas the tip on a drop point is much lower. So no, the shape of the swedge doesn’t have much effect it seems
