@@peterthecatlady4976 The cycle of misogynistic gender roles which disproportionately place responsibilities and restrictions on the women of the family (cleaning the home, dressing well, taking care of siblings, cooking, needing a male family member with you to go out in public, stricter curfews, etc.), while the men get by with hardly any. Honestly this is a theme in all communities (even in traditionally matriarchal ones), but very prolific in that of ethnic/racial minorities.

You ain't fooling Latino parents. Just because the son can go out doesn't mean the daughter can leave their street. I know for me being 5 years older than my brother ge got a lot more freedom and was able to really have a childhood. Meanwhile I was taught to cook, do dishes, clean the garage, scrub floors and my brother would never clean because a "woman" does that. It always hurts being in that type of environment growing up and it is not avoidable unless you runaway lol.

That closing statement really made me cry because I lost my sister 1 month ago from yesterday, she was 20 and I’m 16. I never really expressed my love enough for her. So if you do have sibling pls pls call them and let them know how much you really do love them and how much you really do care for them.

It’s pretty funny how there were a few that seemed obvious like the ones with the same style, but were wrong lol. But when you see the real siblings side by side, it’s pretty wild to see the similarities you haven’t seen before

the entire part about the twins was spot on. i'm a woman with a twin brother and i feel like it's an overlooked pair. Rayne's reaction was exactly how every conversation goes when this comes up. i think that people often hear 'twin' and think identical. the male/female component adds a weird gendered dynamic that i do not benefit from nor appreciate

I really felt for the girl who raised her younger sister. I was eight years and twelve years older than my two younger siblings. When my youngest sibling was born, my mom had a mental health crisis and then became addicted to alcohol. I raised them until the youngest was 18 and settled in college, only then did I live by myself for the first time. It's a strange feeling as you feel like both the parent and the friend but the dynamic definitely shifts more into sibling territory as they become adults.
