COMMON NAME: ALTANIC PUFFIN
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Fratercula arctica
The Atlantic puffin is the smallest species of puffin. The pigeon-sized seabird's black head, back and wings contrast sharply with its white underside. An even brighter contrast exists with its vibrant orange feet and colourful orange, yellow and bluish bill. The puffin sheds its distinctive bill in the winter following the breeding season each year and its feet and bill both fade to a dull gray.
*Cool Fact: Despite having wings, the puffin is a poor flier. It must flap its wings 300 to 400 beats per minute to stay airborne.

They totally do, don't they? I remember as a little kid my grandparents gave me this huge national geographic picture book multi-volume series and one of them had several pictures of puffins, and i always thought they looked so sad, and yes about to cry. Thankfully I am not the only one! LOL

The Atlantic puffin is my favorite bird. There small and have personality plus a mated pair stay bonded for life which is so sweet. But most importantly there so round and fluffy.

They don’t get their distinguished color til after they mate. Baby puffins are grayish black. So no they’re not baby!! So adorable though.

Auk is related to them Razorbill and the extinct Great Auk look like pengunis and the Welsh name for Great Auk was "pen gwyn" meaning "white head"

@@patty7791 uhh no they’re not? They’re classified as LC (least of concern) and there’s a lot of them in Iceland.... Edit: Okay yeah I’m starting to see what you mean, they are at Vulnerable. But not endangered yet.
