The numbers used on the kicks were actual numbers from a real life experiment. TKD kicks really are that powerful, since they use the whole body's rotation to generate torque, often leaving the ground with both feet. Muay Thai tends to be the primary basis of MMA striking because it's really well rounded and the elbow/knee strikes are better at countering tackles, but TKD kicks are basically learned as finishing moves. Silva holds black belts (or their equivalent) in all 3 of TKD, Muay Thai, and Capoeira. (Also BJJ because even a striking-focused fighter can't do MMA without learning to grapple)

the taekwondoe glazing in this ep is brutal. taekwondoe is like the weak cousin of karate which allways says that he invented the idea. most techniques found in taekwondoe like the spining back kick or the mawashi geri actually come from karate. but thats all unimportant because in a fight like in mma or any other mixed martial arts fight taekwondoe only fighters get sh1t on not to mention the distance you need to pull some of these kicks which can change rapidly in a fight especially if you are the defending side which is true for the taekwondoe fighter who needs the right "long distance" to pull his kick off sucsessfully otherwise he cant hit or damage his opponent. any boxer kickboxer or mma fighter eats a equaly skilled taekwondoe fighter because the only thing you need to do is pressure fight the taekwondoe guy until he is against the ropes and then its game.
