i've never experienced a description of a cheese that made me so viscerally experience its mild assault on my senses. if only 3 year old me had never eaten plastic, perhaps i would be free from follow your heart soy cheese. and yet, just like we cannot change the past, we cannot change the sensation of that cheese, a lacroix-strength dissatisfaction at the lack of cheesiness and the overprocessing inherant to its creation. was this cheese truly created as cheese? or did it simply have the misfortune of being transported in a newly-constructed truck, insides still reeking of its factorial womb, until it lost its way? was its purpose, like ours, overwritten by each interaction with another force, changed and shaped by them until what was left was a collection of memories held together in a crumbling shape, forever making its mark on the world in the same way it was made?? and which is worse, to be a pale imitation of something more revered yet still have a purpose, or to be an invention meant to be celebrated only to be looked over? either way, for all our differences, we end up the same way. being cut up on a cat tree for asmr. as the cosmic plan so intends.
