CUTTING THE NAUTILUS SWIRL - Cold Process Soap

This is how I cut my Nautilus Swirl soap design to maximize my yield and present the best options for showcasing this unusual pattern. I've yet to find the perfect soap cutter. They are either inexpensive and poor in cutting or do not cut in the dimensions I need for the design. In this case I resorted to cutting the old school method with a knife - which I actually prefer sometimes as it results in a much more glossy finish.

Lovely soap. Check out the soap cutter holly uses. You can cut the slab and then the bar. Look at her Taiwan swirl

Very pretty! I have a Brambleberry mold and dividers, I've been going to do a Taiwan swirl, now I'm going to do one soon lol! These are very pretty colors too 😍 💕.

Gorgeous!!! As for suggestions, I do this type of cut with my cheese cutter - basically like the single bar cutter you've got there - and plane the bars to get a cleaner look.

Thanks! - I have a cutter I purchased from WoodSkin off Etsy but it can't get these wider bars. I bought a cheese cutter from Amazon and the wire broke after using it only a few times. Appreciate the feedback.

I’m going to make this soon. I use a wire cutter, it’s the only way I can cut straight bars. Thanks for sharing the recipe and technique!

Thanks I upgraded to a WoodSkin wire cutter from Etsy but the wire broke so had to resort to the old school knife cutting - good luck with this design technique!

I use the single wire cutter, I remove the guide and the wing nut that attaches it so that I can fit the soap there, I usually plane my bars for a smooth finish.

Thanks do you have any brands or websites you'd recommend? I've bought a couple planers off Etsy and Amazon and haven't been please with the results - also any bevelers?

@@avantsoapstudio6654 I bought it from Etsy, from CDA soapworks if I remember correctly, it shaves a very thin layer. I have only used a vegetable peeler for beveling.
