OMGoodness! I'm so glad I watched this video. I bought a Maker 3 recently, but haven't made time to use it. I was torn between the Explore Air 3 and Maker 3. One of the selling points for me on the Maker 3 was that it will cut without a mat. I'm still a noob and didn't realize a mat is needed for cutting wood. I also didn't realize it takes 40+ minutes to complete the cut. Now I know better what to expect. Thank you.

Great video! I've always wondered how the glow forge worked. I would love to have one but I'm still unsure about all that you can make with it. In a need or want situation, it falls under the want category. I would have to know that I could become profitable and recoup after that kind of spending. It sure did that cut super fast! I would love to get a Gloforge, but the cost is just way too much. If I owned a business I'd get it in a hot minute. But, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in watching videos of you creating projects with it. Looking forward to finding out all about the machine and what kind of projects can be made with it.

just get the xtool D1 or the camera version and Lightburn! There is a learning curve! Is glowforge overrated no! But the xtool d1 exceeds my creativity! A bunch of fails on my end alone but the detail and a few months working with it I’m just working on ideas! The original software that xtool makes is severely limited but lightburn Is amazing that’s where the learning curve comes in!

I like alot of people in the comments would love a glowforge but the budget doesn't allow it and also I'm a hobby crafted. I was wondering if you have any advice on a budget laser cutter? Following. Reviews are mixed on it. Some say it works with the deep cut blade on the explore, some say it doesn’t. It’ll probably take much longer on the explore and may not be as good of a cut.

These turned out so cute! And it's so nice to see other options besides Mr & Mrs too. I would like to put a caution out there though ~ the basswood was milled so it probably has chemicals in it. It should probably have something over the part that actually goes into the cake so as not to make people sick. :) PS ~ still the BEST teacher for a Cricut hands down!

I have a laser cutter but rarely use it. Lasering generates toxic fumes when you burn materials that are chemically treated (and not too many materials exist that are not treated in some way) I would rather cut the item as oppose to burning it. Some materials even off gas after lasering. You can't walk away from your project when you use a laser, you have to stay right there and watch over it.
