Here are some amazon links to the tool, tool and boot kit, and a cheap tool version from amazon. I make money from purchases of these links. Thank you! $176 tool only: amzn.to/3XBYXZA $363 tool/boot kit: amzn.to/3XDOwF0 $79 Knockoff: amzn.to/3pnzZ3C

Never knew such a tool existed. This is so you don't have to remove the knuckle clips. I always do though. Makes cleaning out the old grease easier.

@@EasyFixShaun can most auto parts stores get this?
@EasyFixShaun7 ай бұрын
Yup! I put links in the description for amazon. They are not clickable on shorts in youtube anymore. But you could copy and paste them. You can get these anywhere. Amazon has the most choice right now and they seem to be the cheapest 😃

Would you recommend possibly boiling it for maybe 20 seconds so it can have better elasticity?

Great tip! I have never tried that but I am sure some heat would help 😃

new axle is less than the labor to do this now
@EasyFixShaun Жыл бұрын
Good point and very true! Usually the value and durability of an oem axle is much higher than economical aftermarket replacements. So if just the boot is bad, I like to replace the boot 😃🔧

But they are cheap Chinese crap and don't last long. Better off replacing the boot if you can and keep your old axles.

The local parts store Axels don’t last bought a car quest axel and pulled the outter cv boot to find zero grease in the cv

I bought new axles, my front end vibrated after repair so I put the old ones back and replaced the boot. Front end ride smooth, no vibration.

This is not a stock boot, this is a doorman unifit boot. Stock boots won stretch like these ones😐

Correct. It's the boot that comes with the dorman tool.

Eh, I’m too lazy and don’t have enough resources to rebuild an axle myself. Buying quality ones from good sellers is easier and quicker to do.

So you don't clean out the old grease and dirt? How long do you expect the joint to last? You know a few taps with the hammer and the joint will come off the shaft right? How is this saving any time or making it easier?
@on1ytheb3st Жыл бұрын
theoretically if the original boots hasn't torn yet; there hasn't been any ingress of grime or foreign matter.
@domineech Жыл бұрын
@@on1ytheb3st so why would you replace the boot if it isn't torn? Also isn't that more work than just 2 hits with a hammer to pull the joint off?

Old grease was in good shape like you say. But I should have cleaned it out to make perfect. It should live on though with new grease added like an oil change 😃😃

Here is a video on testing them and forcing noise from the front cv-axles. Listen for the crunch crunch and clunk clunk under load. Can happen when cornering or accelerating most cases. Usually the noise follows the tire speed and clunks every half revolution 😃🔧 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kL2TipOQr-DHpIU.html

Boots are really strong. A regular round funnel for transmission oil can work sometimes if it is the exact size and angle that is needed 😃

@@EasyFixShaun thanks, i may try that. its either that or ill replace whole cv just for the trouble lol
@EasyFixShaun7 ай бұрын
Either way is a good plan. I like to save oem shafts with new boots if the joint is still good generally because the aftermarket is usually not quite as good. But the boot replacement can be hard sometimes also 😃
