The reason why another key will work on certain other Vics, is because they are fleet model cars. Fleet model cars only have between 7 and 10 cuts for keys.

The "airbag thing" in the seat is called a lumbar support. It is common for keys in a police vehicle to start all the cars in a dept. I would install a kill switch so you don't have any issues.

Bought a 2011 Vic P7B last week, great car, love the big ole boats. Mine had the same blank hole over the glove box and of course I had to push it in, thanks for the tip on popping it back out.

09 and newer have the power pedals as standard. 08 and older was optional.

i carry around so far a collection of 7 vic keys and yes they work on the doors and trunks,whenever i go to the junkyards i carry them and take them so i can get into locked trunks, they're fleet keys only so many sets were made and most depts don't rekey their cars thats why i can unlock most sheriff cars here in the yards if they were in service you could steal a police car pretty easy.They also add block off plates in the trunk behind the reverse lights if you break out the passenger reverse light you can reach in and pull the emergency trunk release from inside the car.

There are only so many key options per key type. My father used to have a car key collection he used for steeling cars (till he got caught in the act). When I was younger I had an ignition switch go out on a 1976 Plymouth Fury, and the replacement randomly pulled off the shelf took the same key. If you every wondered why they use chipped keys, this should help you to understand why.

I really enjoy the locations of the cigarette outlets. I use the top one to charge my phone. I have a dash cam in my car and I take the wire for it and run it all the way from the headliner down the passenger side molding, under the floor mats and to that bottom cigarette outlet so none of the wire is showing. My vic only has holes for the hideaways in the corner, reverse and tail lights, but no strobes in them which I'm planning on getting some.

You have to be carefull with the pull out because the plastic will break over time.

I do have the "anti-theft" feature on my 1999 CVP where I can pull the key out when it is running, but it is still drive-able even without the key in it.

Inside the trunk of my 2001 CVPI is a short wire hanging down from the trunk latch which will open the trunk from the inside if some perp puts you in there. If you don't have it try to stay out of your trunk.

Here's a crazy one for everyone. My 2005 has a few anti theft devices on it. I'm sure they aren't supposed to act like this but here we go. Sometimes when I get in to start the car it won't start unless I put it in neutral, sometimes it does, when I have the engine running and turn on the headlights the engine will die. Because of that reason I have had to hard wire all lights on switches. Also I can use my left blinker with no issues however if I use my right blinker the engine will die. That's a little scary especially when driving, so I just don't use it. Honestly non of these issue's bother me as I have grown used to them over the year's but one thing I do know is , nobody is stealing my car .

oh and one more thing about the crown Vic "Police" keys. I was told by my ford dealer that there is only 9 different crown Vic police keys. I'm not sure if that's 100% correct but we have many years of crown vics in our fleet and occasionally one set will open another Vic in the fleet.

My 2007 SAP doesn't have adjustable pedals, pretty sure those are an option. Totally found a .223 and a .40 S&W under my trunk liner as well as face paint, a radio battery, and a few other things inside.

You might have pedal adjusters even though the panel is blank, just pull it off and you’ll see the connection if you have it.

At 7:20 you speak about other owners keys working on different cars because so many were made. Back in the 90s when runningTown Car limos in the Bronx we experienced such a circumstance there were so many cars and all the key combos were at a duplication point.

Your buddy with the ex state police car more than likely has a key to each and every one of those ex state cars at that junkyard. They had fleet keys for departments like that meaning 100 cars = 1 key rather than 100 cars = 100 keys. Made life easier for the officers. I have 3 or 4 keys for mine and only got the car with one originally. Also I believe that little loop under the dash is part of a tremco shift lock which when active prevents someone from jumping in and stealing the car. I have a video explaining that on my channel. The dash does some crazy stuff too like self check mode oil pressure digi tac so on and so forth. To activate that hold the trip odometer stick for like 7 seconds with the key off. Continue to press the button while starting the car and it will activate that mode. While its running switch to your miles reading and hold the button down and it will switch from mi to km. Lol if you lived near me man I could share some of the crap ive learned about these cars over the years ive had one

For the anti-theft push the button in your dash above your climate controls, now try taking the key out of the ignition and see if it still runs. That's how mine works, I have a 2011 P7B

Most of these cars have what is called secured idle. There is usually a button on the dashboard for this feature. Place the vehicle in park remove the key and the car will idle . The only way to get the selector out of Park is to insert the key.

1:20puck antenna. A k9 buddy was given a new machine, a big freaking white, unmarked 4-door farm truck. I can tell it a mile off because it has a huge white bowl (GPS antenna) on the roof. Not real stealthy if you know what it is. Actually some of my teasing paid off ; the force started painting the antenna the color of the car on the unmarked véhicules.

I have a 2011 crown Vic as my patrol car. The key trick on mine to keep the car running has a "supervisor" button on the column next to the ignition switch. I can push that button and remove my keys and it keeps the car running and lights on. put the key back in and turn to the run position and then the brake and put it into gear and your good to go. the other black switch on the dash just forward of the ignition is used to unlock the shot gun which in my car is horizontal over the prisoner cage. What your car has inst anti theft. What you're referring to is known as "Secure Idle". Its an add on that departments get that allows the car to run with the key removed. I've seen it in all kinds of vehicles, from CVPIs to ambulances. Nothing special.

Okay one more. your crown Vic has bullet resistant Kevlar in the drivers door. Next time your bored, take off your drivers door interior skin and you'll see the yellow Kevlar panel inside. that's why the police crown vics door is so much heavier than a normal crown vic door.
