Thank you for your in-depth review! Had a hard time finding in-depth reviews online. Debating on purchasing since they’re still running their 56% sale.

Thanks for the review. I may consider switching to this as my condor overland is tight with my family and this would give definitely some more room. Btw, same issue on the condor with the struts.
@tacojeepadventures

We slept in it this weekend and all 3 of us fit really well. We actually didn’t have any issue with the struts when we were inside of it although I do feel the strut location or length could be adjusted at the factory to better perfect it. If any of us got in or out, the tent was solid. We found actually our only gripe was lack of storage in the tent. I ended up just putting my stuff behind my pillow. Our tuff stuff tent had 9 pockets sown onto the inside of the hard top so there were lots of places to store little odds n ends.

Oi! I just talked to CVT and asked about the blem tents. Said they didn’t have any but the Mt Wash is now 1500/1800 for sm/med!! You’ll need to call or email. That and this review sold me. Was hard to not buy two lol

Did you sort out the strut issue?
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. It’s actually not really an issue. Once you’re up in the tent, it flattens out and doesn’t move around even if you change your sleeping position. You only notice it right when you enter the tent.

great great video. I think you covered it all. I also was able to get in on the $2000 deal. I just went out and checked over all of the cons you talked about and mine really didnt have the same problems. The latches are somewhat on the looser side but not quite as loose as yours were. The nylon washer is a great idea. My skylight is not whited out like yours is. actually its very clear (for now anyway). you mentioned the bottomless holes for the fly poles. Mine seat in. And I did see a few aluminum shavings under the mattress but not like you showed. The struts on mine also open smooth and dont stick before opening fully. Mine also came with a front awning and poles as well as the bike racks. I hope that I am not coming across as a jerk here but just wondering why so different. Its a great tent. Really solid in all ways. Maybe a bit heavy overall. Good luck ..👍

Thanks! Tried to cover it all but realized I did not cover the tent pole/awning side of it. It did come with that. They did end up sending out the missing rails that mount to the top of the tent. You’re not coming off as a jerk at all! I just wanted folks to know. I had spoken to customer service formerly and it sounds like their first main batch of tents had the issues I had explained. I was hopeful to get one of the “corrected tents” but didn’t work out that way. I’d say you made out pretty well!

Nice review. How has it held up over the last year. Debating btw this and a used iKamper mini. For about the same price. (~$1500). Did the stargazer window ever clear up?

The tent itself was great - we ended up getting a trailer and an even larger tent. The people that bought this one from us love it! Unfortunately that window never cleared up.

Is there room to store your bedding etc inside when closed?
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
Because of the slim design, there is very little room. We added a 2” memory foam egg crate pad and it only closes with half of it inside. The other half we have to roll up and pack separately. You could probably fit a few blankets or sleeping bags layed out, just nothing too bulky.

Have you tried anything to clear up the stargazer or noticed if it’s getting any better over time? I got my tent this week and had some of the same issues as you but that’s the only one I don’t have a resolution for.
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey Jacob, unfortunately the stargazer has not gotten clearer. It does however still allow a good amount of light through. Even under a full moon in the mountains it was bright at night in the tent.

How would you say the fit/finish and material quality is compared to your Tuff Stuff Alpha? I'm currently considering these exact two tents. great video with really good detail! no one else on the internet has shown the elastic chord keeper, what to do with those clear velcro panels or how the window flys have side side protection. Compared to the Alpha how good does this seal the interior of the tent around the bottom perimeter when the tent is closed? there is indeed minimal to zero information on this tent even from CVT themselves
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the compliments! The fabric on our tuff stuff was a little thicker than on this CVT but still seems good. This tent has no additional interior solid fabric to go over the entry / exit point like the tuff stuff did - only a solid flap on the outside of the screen. The little flaps that come down and Velcro at the hinge sealed better on the tuff stuff mainly because the way the tuff stuff folded out it was even and flush at the joint. The bottom perimeter seals VERY well around the base when closed! The things that shine the most on the CVT over the tuff stuff (alpha II model) is the shell, the latching clamps and window awning designs. This tent is so much easier to close and latch and it’s a slimmer profile which allows me to fit in the garage better. Also with solid aluminum it’s likely going to remain very durable. We like the size as our family of 3 fits perfect. The tuff stuff alpha II is really only good for 2 people. While I believe the fabric part of the tuff stuff was better quality we are really happy so far with the CVT. We actually camped in it this weekend in the mid 20s and we were all cozy in our 0 degree bags. Our condensation did freeze to the inside of the tent so about 7-8am when the sun got to us it started raining inside lol. That’s one other issue…this CVT tent has no vents inside on top like the tuff stuff did so we had to make sure to crack the windows to help with moisture accumulation. The cvt does come with a condensation mat so there was no moisture under the mattress, just the sides and roof. Just had to wipe it down and let it air out. We got condensation in the tuff stuff as well but not as much as the CVT. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks for the video. I'm considering this tent. Did you get your crossbars, and assuming that you did, can you still park in the garage? Curious how tall your garage door opening is. Thanks!
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! Yes, I did get the crossbars and yes the truck will still fit in the garage. My garage doors are standard 7’ doors. Fitting in the garage is all dependent on your lift, tires, and rack height.

@@tacojeepadventures Cool. I got the small for $1500. That's a steal at that price and is a 2.0 with crossbars. I doubt I can fit in my 7ft garage with the crossbars on but we'll see. You're review made me pull the trigger on the purchase.

TJA, can you confirm with ur cvt rtt that the Rubber Seal on the outside when you close it the corner seals has gaps. Is there a way to fix it?
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey there, so I’d say you can fit a finger through at each corner where the trim kinda folds but it’s not bad on mine at all. However, water would have to be sprayed directly upwards into the bottom of the tent at each corner for water to get in there. I’ve had much worse designs on former tents and been in down pours, washed my truck/tent with pressure washer and never had any issues with those tents so I’m way less concerned with this tent. Now that you mention next time I have it open I’ll see if there’s anything I can come up with and report back. You could probably stuff something behind the trim seals in those corners to make it flush with the tent there. I may try something now that you point that out.

What fits a 2020 Tacoma 4x4 Ted pro 5ft bed? Thanks
@tacojeepadventures
@tacojeepadventures 9 ай бұрын
This truck is a 5’ bed and this is the larger of the 2 sizes of this tent. I believe it is the medium. The outside of the shell measures 75” in length. It does overhang the end of the truck bed but because of the tire carrier, I this it looks okay. The extra room to fit the fam is a huge plus!

Thanks! I called them directly as they were liquidating products due to their TN location closure. You can ask if they have any tents remaining that are a part of that sale or ask if they have any “blemished tents”. Those seem to be the ones you get for $2K.

It’s pretty firm. We ended up adding a 2” egg crate memory foam and now it’s very comfortable. Only downside is the tent was very hard to close with it folded over so we had to cut it. We leave the top half in and have to roll up and store the bottom half.

We really like the size of the medium. The space is so nice to have - almost the size of a king bed! I would just take a tape measure and measure 75 inches over your truck bed where the tent would be and see if the larger size would work for you.
