Because Vince is completely overated. He is a wrestling genius they say but wrestling has never been more unpopular than it is now. And because he has had no real competition since 1998 he is thrust upon this pedestal of greatness by some. Of course he has been number 1 for over two decades look at the competition. The Funkasaurus debut is legit one of my fave moments from that time period. From the presentation, to Brodus’ mannerisms, to the commentary, and even Curt Hawkins did a good job of putting the whole thing over with his reactions. It made for something special to me. Was hoping Brodus would become a monster babyface since something like that felt fresher than a monster heel (especially since Mark Henry was still doing his best work with the Hall of Pain). But I think the wind got sucked out of the sails when Brodus kept getting punked out by the recently turned heel Big Show and he just became another stepping stone after that, unfortunately. Much respect to Dusty for being able to put such a positive spin on it. You gotta love hearing these kinds of stories between him and the wrestlers who were under his charge. The man went above and beyond to find Brodus his comfort zone. A true legend.

I remember that debut. WWE had *still* been running the heel promos for his old gimmick right up to his first match, and when the Funkasaurus came out instead, you could hear a pin drop in the arena, even over the TV. Total stunned silence. And fan silence is the kiss of death for a wrestler. If he hadn't started jawing with the fans during the match to get them back involved--and stumbled on "My bad!" to get himself over--that probably would have been his last night in the company. Credit to Tyrus. Vince set him up to fail, and he succeeded in spite of him.

Vince didn't come up with the gimmick though. Tyrus could've done a sort of PG thuganomics gimmick where he comes out and clowns wrestlers while occasionally doing some kind of dance maybe similar to the Godfather as well and it probably would've got over more.

Sometimes you gotta make the best out of a bad situation, and that was a stepping stone to make Naomi the megastar she is today. It got her on TV, it got her noticed and now she’s a multi time champion As for Brodus and Ariane, it also got them on TV and made them very popular with a younger audience and the kids. Long Tong-Sun, Naomi is not amazing. She is a tag along with the real star Sasha. Naomi is a nitwit, she proposed the idea of her being part of "The Bloodline." Just think about that for a second, "The Bloodline" united by blood (not marriage) and she proposed this to everyone. lol, she's a fool!

@@81rbutler you are loud, wrong, a not smart at all. no one in there right mind can watch Naomi and say she's not amazing. back in the diva era she was literally one of the only divas doing innovative moves and trying to show that the women can do risky moves and carry a good match. Naomi can go with the best of them. Naomi is literally one of the only women to trend every few months every year on a consistent basis. she's a fan favorite for a reason. you sound like a hater. Naomi is star just as much as Sasha. wwe just won't give Naomi a good solid storyline and every time they do, they drop it like they do all of the good storylines. and soo what if she propose being apart of the bloodline? she's married to the family and been apart of the family for years. they not gonna add Tamina, nia is gone, so the only female option to add is Naomi if they want to add a female. it's a reason why her theme says "I'm amazing" cause well..look at the in work material. I will admit, they made her limit her move set's because most of the girls can't keep up with her. if Naomi isn't amazing then foxy,nattie, Sasha, Bayley, Paige, auska, ember, and a few more women that was in the company aren't amazing, you sound wild dumb

You know I get the feeling Vince’s actions weren’t really aimed at Tyrus and was more aimed at HHH. I just get the feeling that Vince had a bit of jealousy towards HHH and he just waited for an excuse to yank the rug from under HHH’s new star protege. Sorta the same way when HHH. Got pulled off NXT and Vince was just waiting to undo all HHH did and inject his own ideas. In the perfect world HHH would be running WWE with Vince sipping margaritas in Florida
@Sp3ar.
@Sp3ar. 2 жыл бұрын
The way he tells the story gives 0 indication to what you have said. You’ve created a whole thesis out of nothing. According to Brodus Clay, Vince saw he was funny so wanted to give him a funny gimmick (more true to his real life self). In no way does this seem like a punishment. It may not exactly have been what the guy wanted but he got it over and it worked. You rambling about jealousy conspiracy theories from this just makes me wonder whether you need to spend less time reading wrestling rumours and such online

I still remember the Funkasaurus debut like it was yesterday... I remember WWE were airing vignettes leading to Brodus' Return and the vignettes made it seem for sure that Brodus was finally gonna have a serious character and was gonna be a monster heel challenging for the World Championship and when the day came for his return and the Funkasaurus "somebody call my momma" music hit and Brodus came out dancing with Naomi and Cameron, my jaw literally dropped to the floor I couldnt believe what I was watching. Ironic thing is that he actually got that gimmick over. It’s his mini feud with Big Show that took out his momentum. They pretty much fed him to someone that doesn’t even need a boost. Your perception of his Funkasauras, funny but strong gimmick won’t be the same after watching him get destroyed fairly easily by Big Show without able to put up much of a fight. He went downhill from there.

At the end he has a good point there about a part of the business that went away. Even though WWE is PG it seemed like for a while they had nothing specifically for the kids. Like all their gimmicks were just light, PG versions of themselves. I'm 34 and I still enjoy wrestling, but they need to try and get kids and families watching again. That's the future. The future isn't in 34 year old smarks like me who listen to a thousand podcasts and post on message boards and for a while that's all you saw in the audience.
