OBSBOT UVC to NDI Adapter First Look

A first look at the brand new UVC Webcam to NDI Adapter from OBSBOT, paired up with a DJI Osmo Pocket 3. This adapter outputs NDI HX with either the h.264 or h.265 codec with a max bitrate of 40Mbit/s.
Not discussed in the video is the price of this device, which will likely turn away some potential buyers. At time of its release, the adapter is 300 US Dollars. That's more than most webcams cost. So this device only makes sense when paired with a higher-end webcam. OBSBOT's own Tiny 2 is approximately $330USD, which when paired with this adapter is slightly cheaper than the OBSBOT Tail Air with built-in NDI, but not by much.
At the time I posted this video, the Pocket 3 only supported 1080p resolution for webcam mode. Since then, DJI has released a firmware update that introduces 4k webcam resolution. I have tested it with the OBSBOT adapter, and it works as expected in 4k30.

I wonder if the ai features of say an Insta 360 will still be usable with this box in line.

I would expect so. Those are done in the camera, and then the camera is outputting as a "dumb" webcam. I don't have any Insta360 cameras, however, so cannot test their webcam UVC output capabilities.

Thanks for the video. When you were showing the NDI PTZ controls, were you controlling the Osmo Pocket 3?

@@peterstone7085 It was controlling the Pocket 3, yes. PTZ all worked, but it didn't seem to remember presets. I think that is more on the P3 USB implementation than the adapter, however.

@@cwichura That’s great Christopher. I was trying to find this out, but couldn’t see anything about this anywhere else! I’m putting together an ultra lightweight streaming kit atm, using a Yolobox Ultra, 3 Osmo Pocket 3’s on monopods & now I’ll get the Obsbot converters too. Since your video, the OP3 had an update (as I’m sure you know) & is now streaming 4K in webcam mode - it looks great! Thanks again for replying & look forward to more of your videos.
