Haha, another great interview. As an Aussie, the Call sign "Wombat" had me thinking surley not....and now knowing that he ended up in Australia confirms my suspicions as to why his call sign is not PG rated.😅😅😅😅 i first heard that nickname bandied around when i was living in the Northern Territory . The guys that got that nickname wore it with pride i think. What a legend ....bloody pilots😅😅😅😅😅

In a world full of uncertainty where the lines seem to blur more each day, it is a privilege and a relief to be reminded who we are in these interviews Mover. Plan A for me was to be a naval aviator. At 17 I got slapped by a doctor with a hyper sensitive inner ear balance system, and at 37 I'm still trying to figure out plan B. The goal now is to help preserve the values, heritage, culture, personalities, and excellence of our military aviators through writing. YOU guys, like so many generations before you are the reason I always wanted to be a naval aviator and will remain committed to the community as long as I live. Sorry, didn't mean to preach, just hope you and your guests appreciate how much people like myself appreciate you. Keep up the great work fellas!

Just loaded Treason Flight to my Kindle. It was quick read and a great story. Now if Mover would just finish his sequels to the Shepard series and Fini Flight I’d have something to read while Wombat writes his next book.

Hey, I'm familiar with Wombats. You don't want to hit one with your car, they'll do a surprising amount of damage. They are tough little buggers!

@Phil Collins It's what he said, you get a good flow going - things get easier and you relax. The pressure reduces. But you don't give up, you go get sick again. Neg G's is probably the easiest or sudden unexpected movement from a co-pilot.

Another Vance alumni here. Enjoyed the airsickness stories. I too had issues early on but they ended when my screaming IP went on leave and I flew with my class commander who was a very mellow guy. Karma got me though when I returned as a T37 IP because I ended up having the class pukers for students for two classes in a row. Inverted spins were a prohibited maneuver when I flew the T37, normal student spins were entertaining enough for me.

I thought the same Jeff re inverted spins in UPT...not sure if this guy was BSing or not...seems pretty honest. Surprised about your screaming IP. Never saw one nor was I one in my 11 yrs AD.

Great stuff! Hey Mover it would be great to get some pictures from whoever you are interviewing, if they are willing to share, and put them up as you guys talk about flight school, deployment, etc. Anyway just an idea, also tell Wombat thank you for sharing his story! It really helps a lot of people.

I was recently watching a smarter every day video where he rode with an F16 pilot, prior to maneuvers he would say "smoke on" what is the reason/significance of that? I couldn't find anything searching other than people wanting to know if their pack a day habit was prohibiting them from flying a jet. Thanks.
@DavidJohnson7738
@DavidJohnson7738 2 жыл бұрын
smoke on, smoke off are commands you normally hear the flight lead say over the radio during airshows i.e. blue angels, snowbirds, etc this is so the spectators can see the smoke trails.

Do you or Wombat know any Devs who would / 'could' create a Full Fidelity E-2 Hawkeye module for DCS (with Radar operator slot) (assuming there is enough publicly available documentation / data to be able to create such a module?? I know I would buy it if it was a module for DCS???
