Perhaps, but saying that doesn't explain why 1) gold makes them explode (garlic doesn't do that, not even to vampires); the classic explanation is that it clogs their respirators: that doesn't seem to be happening here (Revenge of the Cybermen is probably the best episode for that), or 2) why someone would make arrows tipped with the softest/most expensive material around.

Gold is a softer metal and would possibly embed itself in the chest unit.

Looks like the chest panel is all made of the same stuff though.

But if you watch the episode, the Nazi leader, wanting to see how an arorw killed a Cybermen, plucked an arrow out of a dead Cybermen and the gold head was intact...same when the Doctor plucked an arrow out of one.

Peinforte is getting power from Fenric. Maybe he is helping the arrows.

Watch 0:52 and 1:45...the arrow heads are intact. No way in hell are those arrowheads gold.

Now, how did that gold-pointed arrow manage to pierce the Cyberman's armor? And what moron makes a gold-pointed arrow? This was a real low point in the show's use of Cybermen.

Got to ask why did the Cybermen die after being hit with an arrrow but not being shot with submachine guns?
