Secrets of Eternity was released in January 2015. This set introduced the Infernoids, a series of monsters that can Special Summon themselves to the field by banishing other Infernoids from either the hand or graveyard. Notable cards in set include Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Qliphort Monolith, Uni-Zombie, Nephe Shaddoll Fusion, and a card that would bolster Satellarknight to combat the Burning Abyss Shaddoll meta, Stellarknight Constellar Diamond.

Playing F.A. requires foresight and careful planning due to the deck’s inconsistency and level management. Gage recklessly throwing his Destrudo engine around only to end up on literally nothing game 2 is a recipe for disaster.

Why does Gage keep doing the Destrudo AFD Chicken Game combo? It costs half his life and he says he gets a lot of “value” from it but what value? A 3000 def wall that’s vulnerable to every type of removal? +1 in card advantage? What does that matter if your cards don’t actually do anything proactive to help you win? Might as well tribute summon a Labrynth Wall and pass, it’s a lot more efficient.

Typically, the usual end board of F.A. is going to be Hang-on Mach with its Macro Cosmos effect applied, and a Test Run set for a pop during opp’s turn. And to do this, Destrudo is a very important extender and engine piece. The problem though, is that F.A. is extremely inconsistent and can frequently fail to make the standard end board. Gage continuously throwing out Destrudo without actually envisioning what he’s going to end on hurts him a lot. F.A. is already hard to play to begin with, couple that with their inconsistency and Nyhmnim’s reckless playing and you have a recipe for disaster. Also, Terraforming goes to 2 next episode, making the deck even more inconsistent.

This Destrudo suicide deck is actually worse than his deep draw frog, he actually cost LP for blindly draws with no clear goal, protection, at least draw frog wont make half work for Cimo to win.

I think destrudo is the main reason to play fas, what I think is the problem is that the deck is built like a combo deck but fas on their own don't really combo too well. Gage should focus on trap cards if he wants to keep doing fas because they are the best defensive options and they can let him resolve both effects of all his QuickPay spells wich is the win condition of the deck

destrudo is not really shine at MR4 until you had guardragon and can make a full board of go 1st negation, which is really impossible with limited resource of progression, some op card is not really op in limited format.

I see both players have overlooked Divine Serpent Geh. In a limited format, that thing is a beast to get rid of. Gage has 3. If he had it in hand when Cimo wiped his board, it would have stopped the OTK.

@@darkblade9924 You're missing the fact that crashing would have saved Gage a turn since Geh is a free summon, and Cimo might not be able to afford crashing at that point considering OTK decks typically rely on single big cards to push. It would have helped.

"Destrudo gives a lot of value with AFD" As much "value" as it could give you, it makes no difference if none of that is proactive, or even lets you stay alive. You could draw 15 cards, and still not make a difference because you're dead anyway.

@@sfsreiq I'm gonna be honest, he's not playing wrong. The two boards that he set were really solid all things considered. Not playing stardust in a deck that can make real good synchro plays was a misplay on his part, but in any situation where cimoooo doesn't open one of either one ofs that do board wipes he's in a great position. Granted, it's cimooo we are talking about, he opened three board wipes in two games

Cimoooo 100% had the right read with Crusadia. To hear Gage say there’s nothing great outside of the Dangers! and Borrelsword really shows me how little he must play budget in real life anymore. Crusadia is such a good deck and I would not be surprised to see Cimoooo use it for a few more weeks.

Gage: Well, paying half my LP for end board consisting of a 3k booty with no protection, an 1800 body, and no disruption just ended in me getting FTK'd... I'll just do it again! Cimo: Boardwipes go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR The comments: Clearly this is Cimo's pulls that are to blame. There's no denying that Cimo pulled better than Gage for most of DM, yes. But that's only half of the equation. The other half is that Gage keeps relying on strategies that don't work at best, and at worst, _help Cimo OTK/FTK him._ It's not like Gage hasn't had good pull luck too. He got double-CED, he got DAD, he got pretty much every covercard in 5Ds, he got full-power DRulers, he's got more dragons than Seto Fucking Kaiba. Cimo didn't get anything like that until Double-Master Peace, and he had much less time with that at full power than Gage did with CED-DAD (even if Gage should've dropped CED-DAD much sooner than he actually did, there's a key difference between our two leads there). I mean fuck, this week it wasn't even a case of "Gage ~~builds~~ gets MBT to build a deck that beats Cimo's strategy from last week but Cimo's one step ahead of him and pivots to something with very different weaknesses to his last deck," MBT straight-up made something that would lose to Dinomist. Cimo has the better card pool, yes. But he also plays better. And (mostly) builds his own decks. And keeps ahead of the meta instead of deckbuilding reactively.

I think it's just the era of YGO that they both started off with. Iirc, Alex was around for early YGO, where resource management was more impactful, whereas modern YGO is more "drop board, hope you can't out it", which Gage is more accustomed to. I don't think this fully justifies all the mistakes both of them have made (bc let's face it, reading is hard and we all make mistakes), but I do think this duality explains quite a bit of how they go about building their decks.

So cimmo having those “staples”, because dark arm and chaos emperor aren’t staples, make them all that more powerful. Gage is just bad at the game in my opinion, but they aren’t using their personal banlist to the fullest extent to make this not so one sided. When you can’t get omni negates because you got unlucky, certain cards become more power if not down right broken.

The thing with the Crusadias is that with Magius you can easily end on any Link-3 or Link-4 monsters without needing to invest too many resources. And even outside of their deck each piece is a very good extender that's playable in all kinds of strategy. Reproducus is an easily accessible Link-2 that can fix types/attributes to extend and Divine Serpent Geh is a pretty nifty card for a limited format. I think you undersold this pack a lot.

He didn't get Equimax but depending on how you do it, even Regulex is enough. Summon something to his zone, put a Kaiju on the other arrow, can easily make it go up to 4k or higher, he can even search Revival to hit everything on the field with a 4k beater, seems pretty decent. Not to mention Arboria protecting, Maximus and Leonis helping with the offensive pressure, Reclusia popping stuff and Crown being an extra deck negate and destroy

He didn't make the same board. Unlike the first game, FA had 6 counters so his only floodgate, "Macro" wasn't even live. He chose to go 1st against a go 2nd deck, with his FA deck, which only won a game by Blackrose-ing the field, and make a worse board then he did before. At this point, why don't we just play random dragon decks? It will be funny at least.

@@coolwoop Probably the best rule would actually be not allowing the same deck or at least core in multiple episodes. Or even maybe to just not allow them to to be played again at all unless there's specifically been support since for that archetype/attribute/type since it was used previously. Yes it's fun to see some of them work in a sealed environment but you're not really seeing progression if they use the same deck or core engine multiple times (especially in a row). They need to get some actual progression back in this progression series. There's so many more cards that could've been used and just weren't. Even the jank series is now more of a sealed progression series than this has been since IOC with one or both of them using mostly the same deck for five plus episodes.

With this its hard to do cause all it takes is for someone to get way more lucky than the other person to the point they cant catch up. I have an idea for a pity pack: How about the pity pack is one of the first few reprint sets, like Dark Beginning? That would give Gage a chance to pull some of the stupid DM staples he is still missing. And in case he draws one of the banned cards, he gets another pack instead? Would make for a fun and chaotic experience.

Wow thats actually a really fun idea. Maybe to actually make it a comeback mechanic you open as many packs as your losing streak is. So it stacks up you lose 3 games You open 1 per loss so you'd accumulate 6 packs instead of 3.

@@shredded_lettuce Sure, that is a possibility, but Gage has still the far higher likelihood to pull something he actually wants. Also, it would just be 1 card max out of a pack that is actually useful (most of the time), so the difference it would make wouldn't be immense. But if you wanted to make it fair and have Gage catch up, let him have those kinda pity packs until they are at a 45:55 win ratio. Until then Cimoooooooo wouldn't get any pity packs, unless they "gentleman's agree" on it (if for example Gage pulled a whole Thunder Dragon core and starts destroying Cimoooooooo from then on, that would very much put them on equal footing once more).
