Destrudo can make the easiest black rose dragon on your 2nd turn. Thats one of the few things that can beat even dinomists in prog. Gage should just play some trap cards to survive cimo's turn and then wipe the board to equalize the gamestate with black rose. Though next set has a lot of good cards at common so we might not have to sink that low.

I think Gage might have been thinking destuction as a whole. As Dinomist do a lot more by attack, then by destorying monsters. But yeah, true none the less.

Honestly going minus 3 to end on stardust + hang on mach is not a winning play. But regardless gage lost those games due to just clicking every button that popped up. -Pop your own monster with FA quickplay -Blow through all the GY resources turn 1 instead of saving them for a comeback -Make AFD into chicken game to draw a useless card because all your deck is FAs and spells but no interaction. Then there is of course the issue of choosing to go 1st with a deck that has 0 plays and leaves itself open to any otk because it halves its own lifepoints.

But it wasn't even an OTK. It was just big booties, conventientaly after Gage cut his own life points, following a DM staple board clear. I think Gage just didn't understand what the heck he was doing.

I used to play the deck, and with a good hand, you'd make omega, dawn, hang on, test run pretty consistently. True, you probably need good cards like ag cat or zoobar for the really insane plays, but afd should make up for that, I feel.

Tbh, most of the really good Salamangreat cards are in the structure deck so I cant see how good a deck Gage could build with the cards from Soul Fusion alone. I think Ruin and Demise might be the way to go, at least until Savage Strike where he can get the fusion related suff.

To be fair there was a long while where Gage had way better pulls and nobody was complaining. 2 CED, DAD, multiples of all the rulers, etc. I do wish they incorporated reprint sets into it though, at least then Gage would have a chance to get DM staples he doesn't have.

@@douglassummers8040 While Gage had better pulls for a few sets, usually they were fairly inconsequential thanks to lacking other parts of the deck, bosses in slow formats like DaD and CED, which many people have admitted in retrospect was probably when they should've taken note of and fixed card inequality, and the Dragon Rulers, who, while powerful, lacked a great wincon, especially after they all got limited and kicked their consistency to nothing. As for the reason people didn't complain about Gage's pulls, that's probably because for the entire series, even right after he went on a tear with CED and DaD, W-L ratio-wise, Gage was always losing. Cimoo won almost every DM set aside from the 2nd and I think last 2 or 3 episodes, and then during 5Ds he went on the Blackwing streak and became basically untouchable. People were more willing to accept someone open broken and abuse that if they were way behind. IMO I'd probably prefer just being able to ban the DM staples rather than give both players them. It's similar to what happened with Scientist where every game becomes "Who opened/draws Raigeki first." Though I could see now that they're in link era that DM staples are less instant wins so it'd be more interesting to see both players use em.

Maybe they just need to add something like "you can't play the same deck twice in a row" or "if you lose 3 sets in a row you get to ban a card from the series"

They absolutely should change things up, to close the gap between winner and loser, but I would just like to add one thing to this: That wheel change? Unless they changed it again, thats something that dates all the way back to Circuit Break, we just never saw it in effect because, for some reason, those two thought it was smarter to rely on a "chance" of getting good cards from ots packs rather than a better chance of completing good playsets from previous sets. Speaking of which, that was also the last time Gage had the wheel on his hands, which was also his last and only chance of fishing for copies of Suprex or Rematch, and get something of a playable Gouki engine (which is already better than everything he has been playing for the last few episodes), but he choose freaking ots packs. So yeah, Gage isnt doing himself any favors either.

I don't think much of that has mattered at all. Most of the wheel spins were garbage throughout prog. Cimo is just hilariously lucky with pack openings. MBTs prog series has a much better system with the bans to even the playing field.

They should flip the rewards for winning and losing, give the winner an ots pack so they have a chance to still get some cards outside of the one episode if ever., while the loser gets a bigger catchup
