Outside Xtra I'm taking it away Luke. You choose a class at the beginning of Darksouls... you showed the menu... there are lots of examples you could have used that are accurate and not Darksouls. Everything isn't exactly like Darksouls. Fallout Farcry Knights of the old republic I'm tired of everyone using Darksouls as their main touchstone; it's repetitive, boring and inaccurate

I accidentally romanced a male villager in Fable 2, was only talking to him as he had the same name as me and he got the wrong idea. In the end I had to take him to a cave outside the village and shoot him in the head. His head fell off and rolled down to where I was standing, had a kind of reproachful look in it's eyes.

I wish I could remember the video I was watching, but the way the narration described the world of Cyberpunk was "You can't save the world, you can only save yourself", implying that your adventure in Cyberpunk will really not be all that "grand". So your character's life may brush up against big things like corporations, crime lords, politicians, etc., but unlike a game like Fallout or Mass Effect, your actions will not fundamentally alter the world around you. If you were going to destroy Night City, or free its inhabitants by bringing down the corporations, your ex being in town would seem like a petty concern. On the other hand, when you're just trying to scrape by, make some money, and move up in the world, a personal relationship like that would still feel important. Not saying that's how it will play out when the game is released, but it's a thought.

But in Mass Effect (at least the first one) your background did come into play. If you were Earth born then a member of the gang you used to run in will offer a couple of unique missions. If you were a colonist then a couple other survivors from the raid will ask for your help with something. Point is I’m hoping the CyberPunk backgrounds offer SOME unique activities.

Jasper Zanovich I agree. Sometimes racism in games could build a more fleshed out would. Like in Elder Scolls for example. They say that people don’t trust Khajit and they aren’t welcome in most cities, but you’re free to come and go as you please if you play as one. Wouldn’t it be more interesting if you had to sneak into cities if certain people wouldn’t talk to you so you had to find other ways to complete certain tasks.

The cool stat, if i remember correctly, is for when the shit hits the fan and everyone starts to die around you, you make a cool check to make sure you basically keep your cool under fire. Also for dialog when someone drops a plot twist you dont lose your flippin mind. That kinda cool. street cred is the other kinda cool. Some people wont talk to you if your cred isnt high enough kinda thing.

Seems they may have rolled EMP into COOL which isn't a bad idea, if Cybernetics don't eat your soul these days EMP doesn't need to be so prominent. COOL was also called WILL back in the day, it was your mental fortitude.

That's right, it covered your composure under stress, and also served as a tough-guy version of Charisma, where you were feared/respected more than liked. Skills like Streetwise and Intimidate were based on COOL.

Takoshi Hitsamaru the shooting is hardly the focus of the game, the devs already said that, so this is a true rpg and will be way bigger than the witcher, and probably even shoot better than deus ex, that is, if you want to shoot.

From some of the news I’ve heard, apparently you can also choose a body type during character creation. I love the idea of finally being able to be a skinny dude, like myself, instead of beefed out gym rat, no offense to the gym rats.

zaqzilla1. True, anthem doesn't look like it is set to deliver an RPG experience. I think there are some other RPG titles coming out this year, dragon quest 11 and octopath traveler for starters. Then there are some already out like kingdom come and pillers of eternity 2.

Yeah, that ruins Anthem before I even see it. I am going to start blaming console PVPers for it, from now on. Nearly all romance/companions was in PC games. Now that they are on consoles, that seems to go away. Watch some play thrus and see what I mean. These people want to skip the story and get to shooting. sigh, so sad for RP.

Never played Anthem, because it looked boring and was FPS. I am sad that this one is too. Because I had hopes this would be more RPG and less FPS. A role playing game just looks better when you can see your character, sorry. That is my opinion and it is not changing, until they make it so you can look down at your body in FPS and you are not just hands and a gun.

I another interview they said that when you talk to characters, if you look at certain things they will react (probably only quest related/Important characters, but if it works smoothly that will make this game insanely immersive.

Also, in mass effect 1, each of the background effect 1 mission in the game. The upbringing ones unlock one quest, and the military service ones modify some core dialogue in one side quest each.

Since you can be either male or female I already have at least 2 characters ready to go, and if there are questionable moral choices to be made (i.e. 'good' or 'bad') then that adds at least another 2- not nearly as many options as TES since they have so many races but hey- being an augmented human is cool in it's own rights. Also, as far as Jane preferring to 'talk' people into doing what she wants, why do I get the feeling that that is backed up with the threat of an eldritch blast to the face?

My headcanon for that scar on Jane's left arm is that she got it during a knife fight in her undersea lair with a henchman who thought he would make a better supervillain. It ended with her kicking him into her piranha pool (she's a traditionalist like that).

i've watched lots of videos and read loads of articles about different peoples' perspectives on the demo, but this is the first time i've heard about the vending machine in V's apartment. it's such a small thing but like jane said. it tells you a lot about the world in that the corporations have such a massive reach, they can sell you stuff physically in your own home

mass effect also had an extra mission for each of the back story choices (though mostly short and in some cases easy to miss) it would be cool to get something like that in cyberpunk 2077 just a little personal side mission based on your choice if they did more with it that would be even cooler

Why do people keep acting like it's weird to have an RPG in first person? The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas, Dues Ex, Neocron. There have been RPG's in first person before.

In the first Elder Scrolls games, the technology didn't allow it. Deus Ex (1,3, and 4) has a set character, and when I played Human Revolution, I felt the game was constantly hindered by the limited perspective. As for Bethesda's latest titles, I switch between based on the situation.

I had never heard of the Cyberpunk table top game before this, and I believe the only way I can understand it is to see a Cyberpunk Oxventure, if that’s possible

I still have reservations about it being first person but after playing a bit of Deus Ex Mankind Divided I’m a lot less upset about it. I’m still intrigued and have recently reacquired some excitement to play Cyberpunk. It sounds like my type of game I really enjoy. Maybe they’ll add a third-person camera later on.

I'm absolutely looking forward to this, because I adored The Witcher games and played through the Wild Hunt at least 8 times. I always get a little nervous about futuristic games, but I feel if anyone is able to pull off this RPG style futuristic game, it would be CDPR

The tabletop game had a mechanic where you'd roll dice to determine your character's backstory, and map out all the major events in their past (family background, personal/professional/romantic history, who their friends and enemies were, etc). It would be cool if the video game had something as detailed as that, but I can also see the point of keeping it quick and simple.
