The whole reason why he wasn't too famous and why Kerry was is simple. Corps. Johnny in the game world never wants to associate with ANY of them. Whereas I'm assuming Johnny in the rulebook just hates Arasaka.

The game never implied that he is wealthy. Whenever he plays its in a club or bar. Never a stadium or anything.

first off this was written before the game came out and they just assumed this wouldn't be covered second off this is exactly how he is described in the 2020 core rulebook, even if he wasn't a corperate sellout he was still a world phenomenon from around 2010-2013

Yeah, the ttrpg says a rockerboy can be anything from a slam poet to an interpretative dancer. It's really open-ended so a player can give them their own flavor. Your rockerboy can even be an activist or politician, which means you could make them a 79-y.o. senator from Vermont whose political stance is that the corporations that run shit shouldn't be running shit.

Corps are stronger than countries, and have major influence on every country aswell as on science. Everyone has cybernetics (smartphones) and the vast majority of people work almost for free, often enslaved by big corps or generally neocolonialist traders.

That's not possible, in Cyberpunk 2020 they say that Adam Smasher destroyed his body in 2, he is only "alive" in 2077 cause his engram (soul) was inserted in a chip by his girlfriend Alt Cunningham, but he doesn't remember anything after 2020

Btw, he died in Arasaka's building riot, all this things will be better explained in the game through Braindance I believe
