I'm glad that the original creator of Cyberpunk is being included and taking an active role in the production of the game. For those that know, the original author of the Witcher didn't do this and ending up regretting all the changes that happened to his story
@dead_kennedys78707 жыл бұрын
AsterDXZ I saw a interview with the original author of The Witcher books, and he seemed fine with the changes. He said that he understood that changes must occur to make the gap between books and video games. Opinions can change though.
@AsterDXZ7 жыл бұрын
A Pedo In a Speedo the one I saw was about how CDPR came to Sapkowski, the author, and basically gave him their whole speech about how they wanted to adapt his story and such into games. He didn't think his books would be adaptable with early 2000's technology and thought they would end up failing and be forgotten. So rather than take an active role in development, he wanted his money upfront and essentially they had as much creative freedom as they wanted. When he saw the massive success the series was, especially 3, he ended up regretting his decision and how much they changed the story. I think he's mostly disappointed in the fact that people are going to think of the games rather than his series of books when they hear "The Witcher" www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-03-24-meeting-andrzej-sapkowski-the-writer-who-created-the-witcher the article I'm referencing was published in 2017, but I hope the information though is dated since it would suck for him to end up regretting what happened to his story. Regardless he's a fascinating man and the article is definitely worth reading

What he regretted most was not getting his share of the games financial success.

AsterDXZ Sapkowski is a great writer, but he is a conservative duche. From all the interviews I've seen it's clear that he thought videogames are the entertainment for idiots. And now he just regrets about losing a TONN of money and the game series becoming a headline of his own creation... while that's not exactly his creation.
@skatevidcentral6 жыл бұрын
It's because the author of the Witcher Sapowski is an old egotistical a-hole. He refused to have anything to do with the games and thought they would flop so took all payment up front instead of a share of profits. Now he's bitter he didn't get a cut of the massive amounts of cash the series has made. Also basically called gamers stupid and thinks video games can't tell compelling stories and are a waste of time. Also thinks his books brought more attention to the games, not the other way around.

To clear up confusion regarding the "My son is working on a Witcher role playing game" - It's not a video game folks. It's a tabletop RPG. It's not very well-known right now, but it's being made. Google it and you'll see the dev blog for it.

solarboy48 so board game...?
@mrdylanwintle6 жыл бұрын
Kinda, not really. Board games and pen and papers are usually fairly different. They can be played with boards but it's like the difference between Fallout 4's minigames and the main game. You can play all these minigames through Fallout 4, but they're much older than Fallout and can be played themselves.

@x4osw0n7 жыл бұрын
XaeeD cyberpunk 2020 (and it's earlier release cyberpunk 2013) are seminal pencil and paper role playing games, a la Dungeons and Dragons. Mike Pondsmith wrote them and punished them. Fasa's Shadowrun was a pale comparison at the time, as CP2020 was much more true to the genre that Gibson et Al created in the 80-90's, being violent, deadly, and full of mood.
@AsterDXZ7 жыл бұрын
CP2020 is a tabletop board game similar to DnD. You would pick a class, make a character, and role play in the Cyberpunk setting. The reason why the years are different between CD Projekt's version and the original is most likely due to the fact that the original tabletop was made in 1988 while this one is most likely coming out in 2019. Back then the 2000's were seen as the far off future with flying cars etc. Back to the Future and Bladerunner also did this back then. Wouldn't make much sense nowadays to put a futuristic setting back in 2015/2020

For now I'm confident in CDPR due to the fact they made the witcher games, and as you probably know they're single player only
@x4osw0n7 жыл бұрын
mahdi ammihaddi it sounds like they are planning a 'mostly' offline single player mode, with some multiplayer elements. I don't see them making this really heavy with multiplayer/online stuff as it's really not in their wheelhouse and I've not seen any real hiring leaks with network specialists involved (that was how we found out about flying vehicles I might add).
@AsterDXZ7 жыл бұрын
Considering CD Projekt's track record, I have no doubt that both the single player and online elements will be refined to their maximum capacity
