I think I'll read it first then listen to the audio book. As a Cyberpunk 2077 fan I feel really lucky that we have all these media, including of course the original source material and Cyberpunk Red, to immerse ourselves in and give us more world building in a sense within this Cyberpunkverse. The comics were also really good, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one, too.

Rafał Kosik is really good writer. When I was younger, I read his series "Felix, Net and Nika". It's about polish middle schoolers and now with this book, he is my second favorite polish writer (after Sapkowski - because witcher, of course).

Loved the book. Listening to it was like I was still playing CP77 and female V was reading a book in the game out loud. I thought she did a great job differentiating the characters by changing her tone, etc.

I recently read this book. I think it's fantastic! It was written very well and was a quick and easy read, which is a big plus in my opinion. Moreover, the atmosphere of Night City from the game is 100% faithful. Each page contains some references to the world presented in the game. A very engaging and exciting story. I personally recommend it.

Def gonna buy this as an audiobook

Got the audiobook, read by Cherami Leigh, the female V. Coming at this as a long time player/GM of Cyberpunk 2020, reading a lot of this made me as a GM see all the moves at play. First time players haphazardly working their way through the game, learning about it and growing with it and getting smarter about how they play, using the tech at their hands and just trying to keep from getting killed. I will say there is a piece that feels a little too "anime" for me but it still fit thematically with the universe so it took nothing for me to overlook it in favor of the story telling. If you're a veteran of the tabletop you'll go in wondering "They had to know this was going to be a problem, why didn't they just eliminate it straight away?" Think new players, because that's effectively what they are, newbies to the edgerunner life who don't know any better. Be prepared to mentally keep track of a few things happening in the scenes as it does bounce along the timeline back and forth a little bit. Fortunately it doesn't do this in a prolonged sense but only within a given scenario so you're not straining too hard on when things are happening but I felt it could have been stitched together a little better. Overall the book is a pretty good read and I imagine would make Mike Pondsmith proud.

Ive been loving it so far. Ive been reading a chapter a day at work and im sad that i will finish it. Its like the author was writing the book while playing the game with all the references, people, and locations. If Rafat writes more cyberpunk books i am buying day one for sure. Borg is my favorite btw, just a loose canon crazy ass looking for the next thing to entertain himself with 😅

Just finished it! Really good story! I was a little confused by the ending though. Mr. Kosik is a great cyberpunk writer. He needs to write more cyberpunk 2077 novels and help with the stories for the Dark Horse comics too! Mrs. Leigh's voice acting for the audiobook was a cherry on top! 😁

I hope they make more cause in my opinion its alright but i'm enjoying it.

my 3 favorite characters in the book are Aya, Liam (whom I picture as a younger Bruce Willis with some chrome) and Milena. I was wondering, who are the two lasses on the cover. I'm hesitating between Aya and the OP (if you know about them, you know whom I mean).

I finished the audiobook today and i definitely agree that you need to maintain focus while listening. Once you get past the first chapter or so you've learned most of the main players, but the perspective changes so often that I found myself rewinding a number of times because i hadnt realized it switched. Cherami does a great job with the different voices, but i agree a different set of voices for dialogue would have been nice. The only thing that let me know we switched perspectives was a slight pause when cherami was speaking. I think everything with it was great as a cyberpunk fan, although i think I'm going to have to listen to the last half again because the things that happened in the last couple of chapters are still a little confusing to me. .

My guess is the events of the book take place toward the end of the montage period (which was a 6mo jump). I could go into why, but that’s borderline spoilers

I just finished reading the book and decided to look up videos of other people's take on it. I definitely agree with your review. The ending really took me by surprise and it made me think back to a lot of parts I didn't think much of when I read them earlier, and then it all clicked. I agree with you though on the, "If you're not a Cyberpunk fan then I don't know if this would get you into it." For me who watched Edgerunners and played the game, the book was great, but if you didn't know anything about either of those two before reading this, I think you'd be very lost. The book doesn't do a lot of great world building. I believe the book relies too much on the reader having prior knowledge about the world. All in all I enjoyed your review!

William Gibson's Sprawl trilogy are great cyberpunk reading (obviously), Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Michael Marshall Smith's One of Us and Spares are pretty sweet also although heading more towards sci-fi/dark future than pure cyberpunk. Having checked out the official Cyberpunk 2077 books out will probably give them all a miss, it's not for me.

Who's in the cover Aya or Milena? I thought it was Aya but i thought she appeared to be organic. But in the cover the woman has facial lines. So it could be Milena.

So for someone who's never played the game (my computer crashed and I'm poor so I can't afford a new one), but has seen the Netflix series and like it- and for someone who loves the Cyberpunk genre in general having read books such as Neuromancer, Count Zero, Do Androids Dream.. and Snow Crash, would you recommend that person to jump on this? Because I am very tempted at just going down to my local Sci Fi book store and get it tomorrow.

Strange choice of writer tbh. I don't know much about his other works other than the fact it's a Polish children's sci fi series. Meanwhile cyberpunk is full violence, drugs, sex etc.
