Poland is the home of my favorite metal band, Behemoth, and my favorite video game studio, CDPR. I had the luck to visit Krakow (that was very short unfortunately) and the people there were very cool and friendly. They do drink a lot more vodka than i'm able to, but that's it :D Max Mike has it right - CDPR are passionate about the project and he's the father of Cyberpunk, that's his baby, only him should be calling the shots for criticizing the final product.

That person whining about "luddite body puritanism" frustrates me because the game that this is based on, Cyberpunk 2020, has the EM Stat, or Empathy. The more implants you get, the lower that stat gets, and once you hit a certain point you become psychotic. You lose all empathy with the rest of humanity as you stop resembling them. This is also in Shadowrun, which was based on Cyberpunk 2020 has far as I know (it's kind of blatant). Also, with GITS, part of the point IS that Motoko's humanity is fairly lost, depending on where you draw your lines. She's robotic in her mannerisms and speech. Look at the scene where Batou is out with her as she's diving, where she breaks down her nature. She reaffirms her humanity as the unique combination of values and thoughts that is her, absolutely. But she's re-affirming it, she's actively showing herself that the form she has isn't what truly constitutes her. She believes everything she's saying, yet she still dives. Despite all that, I don't completely agree with the stat, I'm a pretty strong supporter of transhumanism so the idea that changing your body will fuck you up like this always seemed odd, I think the mind is what we truly are. Having said that, there's a real life phenomenon that shows the body-mind connection is stronger than I would feel initially, and shows that Mike and the creators of Shadowrun have a point: gender dysphoria. Take that, but instead of "My body is male but I don't feel like that's who I am", go with "My body is metal but I am still human." I personally think you could adjust eventually, correct for the lost empathy, for the psychosis, and the other issues. But chances are, it would be a process. Motoko is able to adapt and prove that her body isn't relevant. That's what attracts the Puppet Master to her, she's an EXCEPTION. She's someone special who thinks in a similar way. I can't completely blame the twitter user though. The use of "profane" and "sacred" was a bit weird, they really stuck out to me the first time I read it. I'm pretty sure what CDPR is saying is that the age of Cyberpunk pretty much destroys the entire concept of, "your body is a temple", AKA, "Your body is sacred". They ask where sanctity and profanity are when you can change yourself to a different person, and I do agree that it sounds like they're saying that changing the body changes who you are. What I hope, and what I would assume they mean if they are truly fans of Cyberpunk, is that they are asking a question. Most people don't think like me, and presumably, like Ryan Boyd. I would not be surprised if he too was a transhumanist, he seems to agree with the ideas put forth in Ghost in the Shell at least. Most people see the changing of the body as a changing of who you are, even if your actions are changing the body to be more in line with what you really are, in the case of transgender people. Even if you disagree with what CDPR may be saying, calling it "luddite body puritanism" seems a bit extreme. They're speaking to the basic reactions many people would have to cyborgs, seeing them as less human and more mechanical. A final note. Cyber-augmentation does not necessarily only cover the changing of the body. Central to Ghost in the Shell is the cyber brain, wherein you can access many aspects of your consciousness, and even your ghost, which is basically the soul. The soul itself can be modified, the mind changed, memories re-written, or all of these things wiped. When you can remove memories that haunt you, experience things you haven't lived like with Sim Sense (which goes all the way back to even friggin Neuromancer), then what truly constitutes you? Are you a set of memories and ideals? Or are you your choices, an ever-changing entity anyways, as the Puppet Master tells Motoko at the end of Ghost in the Shell? What is sacred then? Because personally, the idea of viewing the body in terms of profane and sacred is silly, because sanctity is a bunch of made up bullshit from people trying to tell you what to do, and profanity is perfectly good fun that you sometimes need to have to show that nobody else is going to push you around.

The people who disliked this don't have any tastes in video games.

As a man from Poland about our interactions with black people i feel like i have to tell few things. First. How many black people reside in Poland. How many do you think? Take a wild guess. Now i will say that while i do not know precise statistics please consider this. Untill adulthood and precisely untill i went to college in my hometown(more or less 30th biggest city in my country which is a size of a little smaller Texas i think) i have seen only one black person in my life with my own eyes. One. Mostly because i was doing rehab and there was that very tall slim but kinda athletic young woman(i guess she was professionaly doing some sport with those atributes. And i know what she was doing more or less cause my friend worked at that rehab centre). It might seem weird but thats how few black people there are. In college i saw more but not untill then. Sooo. The point i want to make about our hospitality is that if you are a black person visiting our country and you have a feeling everyone is looking at you then you are right. Everyone is looking at you but mostly because they almost never see a black person in our country. We dun wanna hurt, we just surprised. Also we have historically been known to oppose goverment. Its some sort of genetic stubborness.

In my opinion it's better just to wait for the game to release before making judgement calls.

I played the Tabletop years and years ago, and Shadowrun it's FASA competitor. I loved both games but I am way more enthusiastic about 2077 than I have been since 2012 dropped a kickstarter for a game or any other game and broke my no preorders commitment. This is going to be awesome.

Just wanna say that is now even confirmed, that you can have gay romances in the game. This tells me, the outrage about the ingame ad is completely unjustified. CDPR seems to be very open with things like that. At least on top of my head I can’t remember any other game where you can play as a black female cyborg lesbian, who can hack, shoot and talk herself out of every situation, while your „cool“ skill is maxed out. They definitely shouldn’t have any problems with political correctness. I actually don’t know if this was confirmed before, but I just saw the confirmation on Easy Allies, so I might be a little late, maybe....
