Edgerunners really captures the vibe of over the top 80's and early 90's anime. Which is extremely fitting, given how much of that classic anime is conceptually entwined with early cyberpunk media as a genre.

I disagree. I felt that way when the dragon's in got died, but this had impact. It kinda prepped you if you didn't realize cyberpunk doesn't have happy endings and shows how brutal and uncaring smasher is

@@skyrimisforthenords8312 I suppose but even then there’s ways the do it with more class. I absolutely love the tragic ending of the show but personally I find deaths that only serve as shock value and nothing more to be really cheap and boring. There were better ways of killing off the character that would’ve been more satisfying. Perhaps David in his cyber psychosis kills her or something to that effect. As it stands it just feels like something they thought of last minute because they didn’t know what else to do with the character. Also it just makes her look fucking stupid because why didn’t she just move out of the way? She had plenty of time and she knew bullets wouldn’t kill it. Hell even if bullets did somehow kill it she would’ve still gotten crushed. It’s just a stupid and cheap death that’s a blight on what is otherwise a flawless final episode.

That's what people loved about Game of Thrones (for the first four seasons or so). Stories, in which people suffer actual fatal consequences, regardless of whether they are a main character or not, are usually more interesting and mature than a feel-good fairy tale.

Gotta say, I really enjoyed Smasher's presence in Edgerunners, I feel like what he put into definition, David couldn't, and that is a sheer killing machine. Ultimately, while David not only was killed by the love he held for his friends, his arrogance in his constant purchasing and utilization of enhancements without halt, would also be his downfall. David failed where Smasher exceeded him, so once he was unleashed, the story was over regardless of how many episodes it would have dragged on for.

Would you have preferred a slo-mo of David's face smiling at her, slowly turning into a look of shock as he looks up at Adam falling towards Rebecca, (shift camera angle at Rebecca's feet looking up) then resume normal speed with Rebecca looking up at Adam whom is falling down toward her with horrifying speed (camera pans to her eyes and dilating pupils as the shock of reality is hitting her) and finally we switch to behind David's head looking towards Rebecca which is blocking our view of Rebecca herself (almost as if to protect the viewer from the oncoming horror) as we see Adam come down on her from above David's head and the dust/debris surrounding her unfortunate demise (queue 10 seconds of silence on David's face of shock from disbelief). Now that's how the scene should've played out but whatever.

@@ariokalami6550 Honestly? I felt more emotion when her brother got killed. When Rebecca died I couldn't even process the experience because it was done so nonchalantly. Don't get me wrong, I don't belive it had to be shown how I explained word for word... I just wanted her to have the proper send off she deserved. Either a glorious death or a truly traumatic one, but not this almost comedic yet gruesome death. Then again it's certainly possible the scene and show as a whole flew over my head.

@@BaronRodney 1st of all, her brother died and it was only shown for a single scene. I think that at the time you just liked her brother more then you did her when they each died 2nd of all, yeah she deserved a better death, but you don’t get shit in night city Jokes aside, she should have probably died while actually fighting Adam smasher not crushed like a bug
